If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... New Telluride Prestige SX AWD Leaking during first rain and only 5 days old.

My son has a Forte and had 67K miles on it. On vacation, their motor blew up in Georgia on their way back to Ohio from Florida. They had it towed to the closest Kia dealer down there. The dealership ordered a new motor and gave them a loaner to get back home. They replaced the motor under warranty, then had his car towed to our dealer. He picked his car up at our dealer and dropped the loaner off at our dealer and they shipped the loaner back to Georgia... Very impressive. Out of the dozen Kias us and our immediate family have had, his was the only one with any problems and they definitely took care of it. My yellow stinger they bought back for the paint and I'm now in a Ceramic. I can't complain at all about Kia taking care of us.

That is actually pretty impressive. Coming from Audi the 'service' aspect has me a little concerned with purchasing a KIA. But it sounds like they are really trying to make this situation right. Thumbs up to Kia.
Same here

You don’t happen to be in Ohio ? I just went out to dinner today and parked near a bosyshop. The body shop owner came out and asked if I had a telluride and I said yes and he asked how I liked it. He then told me he just got a telluride in from a dealership that it already needs to be fixed. I think it was damage on site of dealership. He said it’s been really hard to get parts since it’s so new. Didn’t ask him exactly what happened though.

No I live in South Louisiana. They pulled the head liner and the interior today. They used a water hose to find the leak. It was the rear moon roof passenger rear corner was not sealed correctly. It is going to a glass shop to get correctly sealed on Monday. In my opinion this is Kia's fault for not doing QC correctly before it left the plant. I would hope they would do a leak test on all vehicles before they left and this one was clearly missed because it was no small leak.

Interesting to hear since when they leave the floor they usually do a bunch of test and I would think rain simulation would be one?

were at I south Louisiana? just curious as I'm in Lake Charles. If in LC them that is one I passed up when it came in.

Nice experience! This sounds encouraging for those of us new to the brand.

I have had a few cars with sunroofs that leaked from German to America made ones :) most of the time it is due to improperly installed or crimmed draines.
My advice - dont freak out. The things that got wet will dry out, and you caught it early so mold will likely not have time to develop. You probably have less water than if someone washed your carpet and seats at a car wash :) Good luck, but it looks like KIA is cooperating.

This is happening now with mine in the same place. How did it get resolved for you?

I was happy. They fixed everything and they let me take a look at it while they were fixing everything. I thought they did a great job. I'm glad we kept it because this is the most impressive car we have ever owned so far. We love it.

Great! We love ours too.

How long did it take to fix?

Went to the dealer, they hosed the roof but couldn't reproduce it.

He thinks maybe the front moon roof was cracked open and leaked into the channel the moon roofs share for drainage.

They are actually working to try and buy it back and get me another one. I will keep you guys updated.
Can you PM me how this all
Worked? I’m having a major issue and they will likely need to buy it back. Was your car financed? How long until they found a replacement and did it have to be the same exact color or did they offer some options for replacement? Please help with advice. Thanks!!

We had our first rain in our all new Kia Telluride SX and rear passenger roof above third row is soaking wet, 3rd row seats are soaking wet, and the floor is soaking wet. Not sure where it is coming from, but my wife is very angry. Only 5 days old and heading to the shop already. Not sure how this will be handled at the dealership, but not happy it will be in the shop already after spending that much money. I will keep you guys updated on how its handled.

Just chiming in. The rear moonroof leaking seems to be a known issue by now with Kia... I work with a fella who had the same issue.

They had the car for a week and they fixed it. Apparently there was an issue with the seal.

did the leak cause any damage? i.e. staining or midew or mold?

Well, the problem is back with a vengeance. Our usually garaged Telluride was out in the downpour last night and now it looks like this. View attachment 5495

Gotta be a warranty-covered Issue, but still a huge PITA. I would absolutely make them replace the headliner completely so you don’t end up with mold. Probably also covered by your insurance Comprehensive (Other than Collision) coverage. You could go that route and let them deal with Kia. Might also be faster. Good luck.

Oh man that sucks. I’d be so annoyed. Hope you get it fixed to your satisfaction.
