• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Night driving and bugs

If it's bad now, wait until the Cicadas come out.

A wind deflector on the front helps. You will still get them towards the top of the window but.....

Im going to wrap my font end, head lights and side view mirros with 3m ppf. Best to do this when the car is new and hasn't been subjected to this punishment however.

I would be very hesitant to actually try plastic wrap, especially in warm climates. You want airflow to the engine.

Obviously Im not wrapping the grill or any air intakes. There are still other portions of the front end that can be wrapped.

That’s the one thing about the big, bold, boxy dimensions of Telly and old-school boxy cars, SUVs, trucks I almost forgot about.

Big front surface to collect all kinds of splattered flying insects. With the fog lamps on and the powerful LEDs, probably even more.

❤️ night time driving.

I’ve used so much windshield wiper fluid for Telly already 🤣

I would be really interested if anyone has a favorite product for removing bugs. I have ceramic coating, and it's generally made washing very easy. I use touchless car washes and Optimum No Rinse about once a week and it's very fast and easy (a key for me, because I'm not one to spend too much time with detailing). That combination works the vast majority of the time. But sometimes after a long trip, I've got some front-end bug buildup to attend to. Any particular tips or products that people like?

No idea.

I wonder if a layer of Tri-flow teflon lubricant would keep those splattering insects from drying and sticking to Telly.

I use this quick detailer...spray and wipe, it is amazing. Loosens up the bugs but also cleans up the area in general.

I have a small pump sprayer that I hit it with warm water before the quick detailer. The water softens and also adds extra lubrication to help in reducing swirl marks. Then I go straight quick detailer to top it off.

I standby Rainex repellent on the windows and especially the windshield. Depending on climate and usage, I might apply 1-2 applications every 2-3 months. This product really helps with the windshield for repelling rain, light snow, and bug splatters. I also use the Rainex wiper fluid as well. Both work together and makes it really to wipe gunk off the windshield and water beads up and rolls off fairly easy especially while driving at highway speeds.

I always hated the plastered look of bug guts on a windshield and the smears of water or snow. Hinders my view and is not aesthetically pleasing.

During my washes I use either a pressure wash nozzle and/or some good ol elbow work to get the bug splatter off the front of the vehicle.

I haven’t done anything preventive for bug splatter yet… I will get to that. For cleaning of bug guts, I like Schaeffer 266 oil — it makes the task easy.
