No automatic date/time adjustment due to DST

I was ever so slightly disappointed to see that my car did not automatically adjust its date/time due to DST ending. It took a minute or two to find the right spot in settings to make the adjustment. Not a big deal, but I had grown accustomed to my old Acura making this adjustment on its own twice a year. (In case it's relevant: No, I haven't activated UVO.)

Yeah, DST is a really new concept and after all it's just a $50K vehilcle. LOL.

Whoops - I am so thrown off I time I thought it updated and it didn't. Had to go into the menu and turn off the DST.

Been this way since the first year of production for the Telly. Probably not something the software engineers at Kia are concerned about changing.

Yeah, I noticed that also and was quite surprised that I had to uncheck the DST box to correct the time. WTF?

Same here. However, to be fair, for 5 years my BMW did the same thing - even though the DST checkbox, to me at least, indicates that I want the car to automatically adjust to DST - it's just a shortcut to shift by an hour.

Twice every year we go through this...

It's two taps. Tap the clock at the top of the screen, then tap the daylight saving time box to check it or uncheck it (depending on time of the year). Since we're now in standard time, it needs to be unchecked.

If the hardest thing any of us have to do in our lives is two taps twice a year, we're doing pretty well.

It's not the difficulty, it's the principle. The current version of DST started in 2007. Originally it was first used in 1918 in this country. I think they've had time to get it right. If it's going to be wrong then why do it at all. Don't give me a check box for something that means nothing. A $20 clock handles it why can't a $50k car do it.

The box does do something… it tells the system whether it’s standard time or daylight time.

Would it be nice if everything changed automatically? Yes. Is it the end of the world that it doesn’t? No. Again, two taps.

I’ve said this before, but I think it speaks to how great these vehicles are overall that we have multiple threads about non-issues like this one because there are so few legitimate issues to talk about/complain about.

Coming from perspective of a SX-P, I generally agree but it already automatically sets the clock and does tell me when I cross into a different time zone and adjusts the clock accordingly. It shouldn't be hard to add time change logic to the software since it already knows where you are and already adjusts. Maybe the next update if enough people say something.....

It amazes me that Kia doesn't automatically update for DST. It knows the time, date and your location, why wouldn't it just automatically adjust? On top of that, they made this setting profile specific, so both users have to uncheck the DST box. As if there is a world where one driver would want the clock wrong and the other driver wants the correct time... Minor annoyance and I love the car, but come on. This is pretty easy stuff.

Since it’s that day….. it’s actually more than 2 clicks if you have different profiles set up. Somehow this is a profile-independent setting. Like husband observes DST but wife does not lol.
