• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone else getting a "Decompression Error" when trying to download the update? I haven't been able to download since they released it again the other day since it stops around 2% download with the error. I also tried downloading the Hyundai update for my wife's Tucson and get the same error. Using Mac OS not windows.

Downloaded straight to a memory stick, did the update, so far it looks good. 2021 SX and using a PC to download.

Noticed that the speedo is still in MPH and hopefully the other settings have stayed put. Will drive the car tomorrow and see.

This time, when the memory stick was put in the car it prompted for the update. Seems like they are doing a better job with the process.

Still Can't get my car to recognize the files on the USB stick. I downloaded directly to the stick, it just wont work. Doing this via a mac if that matters in terms of formatting.

Have you tried formatting the USB stick to FAT32? Also, make sure the files are not inside a folder on the stick. All ~20 data files need to be in the root directory of the drive.

What is the capacity/size of the stick? 32GB or greater? It also there isn’t a security pass code enabled USB stick right?

Plug in the USB before running the KIA application and let it format the drive for you and copy the files over. Proper format when it's complete should show as exFAT (NOT FAT32 or NTFS or anything else)

"May take up to 25 minutes" my ass! That took 56 minutes. I ended up just gassing it up even with the engines still running, to keep it going.

Used a huge thumb drive to do it. The software is annoying because you have to install software on your PC, to download the updates. I always just assume that's Spyware phoning home about your PC, when they force you to do that.

Ok, Drive has been reformatted to exFAT. Re-downloading the files now. Fingers crossed!

All the directions are at update.kia.com.

You can go to setup > general > SW info/update and find your map version.

For anyone following this thread still on the original pre-Barney UI and has hesitated to upgrade but mainly uses Car Play I just wanted to say I'm very much enjoying the new UI because I don't use AM/FM and mainly use Apple CarPlay and KIA Navigation. The map updates are GREAT and I don't mind the Funkadelic color scheme as much as I thought I would.

I'm still on "Pre-Barney" and I use Carplay quite regularly. I don't really have any desire to use Kia navigation but it's nice to know that it's improving. I'll probably stay on this version until there's an appealing reason to upgrade.

i'm not updating anything unless there is something awesome...we all know what happens when you update your iphone...bugs and battery drain...while there won't be any battery drain the bugs can be an issue...so unless they provide some new features that i need i'm good with the updates...everything seems stable at the moment...not worth the risk to be an early adopter or to adopt at all

It was released in November. I don't think updating 4 months later is going to make you and early adopter.

maps, for one.
wife runs carplay every time she gets in the car...she hasn't noticed any glitches with the rest of the features that i'm sure she doesn't use lol

Just updated the Nav Nov-21 software in my 2022 SX Nightfall. Bit of a hiccup initially as I didn't see you needed a 32-GB USB. Went out and got a 64-GB USB 3 stick. Down loaded over 100-mbs FIOS in about 35 minutes. Transferred to USB stick. Took right at 35 mins to do car update with USB 3.0. All is well now. Will report back if any hiccups pop up in future.
