• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Oct 2023 Software Update

You mean it doesn't fix the dumbest infotainment feature ever in the history of vehicles, that it always starts up on some random dumb useless map and not the last screen that was on when you turned the vehicle off?????

"Random dumb useless map"? Mine shows me where I currently am, somethings wrong with your system then. As for going to the screen I was on, I find the button placement quite intuitive and easy to use to get to the radio, media, map, or system settings.

Oh it shows me where I am, but why would I want to know that every time I'm leaving my house, or the other places I leave 90% of the time? Why would it not be like every other vehicle you get into, that the screen comes up to the screen you had on last because that's what makes the most sense? Oh it's not super complicated, but why would I want to hit a button to get to that when it can (and should) just return to the music screen which I want on 90% of the time. Why would I want a map I use maybe (maybe) 10% of the time in the vehicle, and one that doesn't even show you guidance, just a graphical purple map without any road names or anything?

Did you test drive the car, check out the features before you actually bought it? Not being snarky, asking a legit question because there have been people who have not then complain.

Yes, we did. But even so, those are not things you really key in on a test drive, right? You don't get to turn it off and back on again and see what screen comes up, I mean I guess you could, but it's not like you're sitting there saying 'let me see what screen comes back up when I power cylce the car', yeah? Most would just assume it would work like every other vehicle in the world. Never ever been in a vehicle that defaults to a useless screen and not the one you turned the car off with. Seems so easy to fix.

What happens in the other Kias? Hyundais? They do something different? Such a little thing to be so vociferous about.

Not sure, if they all do it, then that's horrible design across the whole lineup. Not logical, not what people would want 90% of the time when getting in the car, super simple fix (old versions worked that way). Infotainment is brutal all around. Song name and artist all the way over on the righthand side, farthest from your view as a driver, etc etc. List goes on and on with how crappy the infotainment is. Just wish they would accept feedback so it could be set up the right way, that's logical and safest. Seems so easy.

Yeah I keep hoping this gets fixed. I want the SiriusXM widget to show up first. Annoying and pointless to make me flick from the map (which nobody uses in the age of Google Maps and Waze anyway) to Sirius every single time I'm in the car. They let you order the widgets but it always makes the map first and you can't turn the map off like you can other widgets like weather. It's idiotic. Love the vehicle otherwise.

Is there a trick to getting back quickly to CarPlay? I like looking at the elevation at times but then have to fumble through screens to get back.

Program your star (favorite) button to phone projection. That’ll get you back to CarPlay or Android Auto with one press.

If I have a 2022 and have never done any software updates, am I looking at the 1.5-2 hours update to the newest update? Just installed on a usb stick earlier today.

I don't use the infotainment part(outside of CarPlay). The only reason I am even interested is because Waze/google maps don't keep my gps correct and get out of whack so I have been forced into using Apple Maps only. I miss Waze and prefer it.

I know this is specific to at least Tellys because my in-laws ford escape has no issues when I use Waze. Been going on about 1.5 years with this being an issue.

I had a problem with Waze and the update fixed it immediately

Anyone know why update.Kia.com has October update, but when you go to the mnsoft page it’s January 17th? You will be directed to update site, but curious. I installed Sunday, and at the dealer today they said the wrong version was installed. Not sure how that is possible unless the update site was incorrect for the year of the car

We’re currently on the October 2023 update, but note that each update is often re-released sometimes multiple times during the cycle due to various reasons. The most recent version you see from the download site has December date codes. That’s probably why the shipping site says January because that’s when that most recent re-released version was prepared for distribution via USB.

Makes sense!
