(sorry, long post)
This is where Part 2: Adding Insult to Injury, begins....
You are correct, I saw the
VIN and was sure it was ours because at the time we ordered there was a glitch in the software that would not allow the black/black SXP-T combo. The glitch was fixed on 10/24 and our sales rep redid the order, therefore ours would have to be the first one for our dealer with that combo. At order we were told delivery was expected in 12-16 weeks. When I saw the
VIN for our combo pop up on 01/29 it fit both the time frame and parameters. We texted the sales rep to ask if this was our
VIN and she informed us it was a close match but not ours. However, it was an order another customer had backed out of and we could have it if we wanted. Of course we jumped on it, confirmed via email we would get it at the Costco price and eagerly awaited its arrival. As luck would have it, we were out-of-state when the truck reached the dealer on 02/08. Throughout the weekend they sent us photos, we arranged pick-up for today (02/12) and confirmed the details several times with both the sales rep and her sales manager. On Monday, 30 minutes after our final confirmation with the sales manager for pick-up at 9AM on 02/12 and, as we are about to board our flight home, we receive a text message from a different sales manager we'd never heard of, informing us that we couldn't have this truck and in fact we do not have an order with them/our order was never placed. Upon landing we appealed to the acting GM who told us he couldn't sell it to us for the Costco price because they were selling it for MSRP +10K.
Yesterday and today have been spent raising holy heck with KIA Consumer Assistance Center and the Costco Auto Program, we'll see what happens. Needless to say, we are bitterly disappointed that we couldn't pick up our beautiful new Telluride today as promised!
