Did you have an official ETA from Kia and order placed into KFOS?..

If not than yes the 2020's will need to be re-entered as a 2021

Is it safe to assume that if my dealer gave me an ETA of June 8th a couple weeks ago for my EX, that it is already in KFOS?

I did not have ETA and do not mind waiting but I was told that I have to go back to dealer to reorder when that date is allowed. I am patient but not happy and do not think that is fair to go back into a que when they have my down payment for these months.

That's on the dealer unfortunately. Nothing we can do about the changeover. (Dealers and Clients)

But they(Your dealer) should do everything over the phone if you prefer. They should also keep you in the same que..
Every dealer has different owners and direction..
Owner may want to ensure all clients still want orders.
If you have put a deposit imo shows you are committed

It can still be canceled though, right? Licky21 mentioned earlier he had an eta and his was kfos but he got a call this morning from his dealer telling him his order was canceled!

Kind of sounds like that, yikes.

For the people who are having their orders cancelled, what trim levels did you guys order? This is based off a few weeks of being on this site, but it seems like SX-P’s are way harder to come by than an EX for production and all.

Not sure it matters or not, but my order was one that was already allocated to the store, I didn’t special order the specs on it or anything. They told me what all the EX had in it that was coming in June 8th, and that’s what I put a down deposit on.

A Telluride with an official ETA from Kia should not be cancelled.. would contact your sales consultant to check on latest ETA.

It looks like they upped their production to 100 Tellurides today, well, at least 100 new VINs popped up today anyway, compared to about 50 a day last week.

You should maintain your place in line - just now waiting on a 2021 and not a 2020. My dealership has a list they maintain outside of the KIA systems to track who is what place in line on the Tellurides. @StephenCantrelle rocks.

While I won't defend their lack of communication - I will say that the dealers are waiting on the specifics of the 2021's just like us. Until they know differently - they were placing orders for 2020's. Last month they found out the order books closed for the 2020 model year - but don't have the information on the 2021's yet. Keep in mind - if your dealership keeps a list of orders they should be able to move you to the new model year without you losing your place in line. So your wait time is really only impacted by the crazy demand for the Telluride SXP and COVID-19. Neither of those things could KIA control or expect.

If KFOS opens back up this month - your dealership will know on the 13th. Give them a call and if they honor your place in line (which they should) then you have lost nothing. By the way - I would ask how many people in front of you for your model and trim and then ask how many allocations they are getting each month and how many they get this month. That will help you know how much longer the wait is.

Placed our order about December 30th 2019. In late February early March was told Kia lost the order but showed one was ordered. The dealer contacted Kia and told them of the order issue and requested priority status to move us into the confirmed order pile. Was told end of May but that was before the covid closing order. Not I have no idea. I’ll be pissed if my order gets cancelled after waiting this long. Also, I will not get roped into being forced into paying more for a 2021. If they offer a 2021 for same price, I’ll take it but otherwise I want what I ordered for the price I was quoted.

So I called up the KIA dealer in Cary.....the sales GM was a very nice guy and I can tell he is honest.

He said they have 26 open orders for Telluride. But they do 10 submissions per month compared to Durham who only does 2!

The Durham KIA said I was now #3 on the list (by order date). #1 and #2 had their orders canceled as well and he left them messages and hasn't heard back from them yet. So I will see how that plays out.

Worst case scenario I will go to KIA Cary and give them the order when 2021 is announced and "order-able". I trust them a lot more.

Durham said I can have my $500 bucks deposit back if I wanna walk....

I did call KIA HQ in Ga. like you mentioned. I spoke to the consumer department. The lady took my info. She seemed to be not so personable but she asked me about the car I ordered and said that she will forward it to the plants Sales department. She said I will get called in 3-4 days. We shall see.

I ordered a Ebony Black SXP w/T . I was gonna take it to the shop in Raleigh to get it blacked out. The 2021 offers a black out version....

and today I was emailed a pic of the concept from Kia in Cary.

I just got an email from my dealer with an eta of June 2nd! I ordered January 3rd. SX-P, Gray /Grey in Missouri. I noticed on the lookup site they've had 3 cars allocated this week (although none were mine).

Lucky21 you'll have a much better experience at Hendrick over University. I was on the phone with one of their clowns for less than 30 seconds when I knew I was taking my business elsewhere. I wasn't sure if it was their culture there or just the salesman but I wasn't about to find out.
And last time I checked Hendrick has had the most allocations since January for NC dealers.
