Order to delivery time

Agreed here too on some of those very good points. They've got to get ahead of the supply deficit as any successful business model would dictate.
I suggested in another thread this could be a another reason/purpose behind why KIA pulled back on their lease and financing incentives for 2021Tellurides starting this week. Slow the sales or the foot traffic at the dealerships to buy time and get more inventory on the lots.
Unfortunately I don't believe we'll see supply and dealer addendums level off for another year or so. Its just that good of a vehicle for the American suv market.
Since they have a year's worth of special orders in the books, they have a better idea of what quantities of which trims to build. I'm betting they want to get out of the special order business so I actually wouldn't be surprised if ordering didn't open up this month. Special orders are not the common way to sell cars. Kia may just keep producing stuff and allocating it for another month or two.

This could be an attempt at a return to normalcy and unfortunately could leave people waiting for special orders in a bad spot.

They're paying attention, its just gotta take more time. They've already adjusted production percentages more reflective of the demand for the higher trim levels for 2021 production models.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. They're not cranking them out like Toyota or Ford so I'd be willing to bet their "custom ordered" units far exceed their competitors percentages who offer their customers more of a selection. Again its a good problem for KIA to have. We just have to deal with it. Lol

The other thing is that when I ordered mine, I didn't want any accessories but they still ordered mine with floor mats. Most of these that are getting allocated seem to have 3-5 accessories tacked on like mud guards, cargo covers, etc. $500+ more in options than I would've ordered. So there's that increase in revenue as well that they can control.

I've never walked into a Ford or Chevy dealer and found the exact car I would've built online. They always need to dealer trade or add aftermarket stuff to get me as close to what I'm looking for as possible. (Or I need to compromise.) It's still never exact. But, people buy anyway because it's close enough and it's available.

If they don't open orders up this month - that will be a sure fire way to piss off a huge base of customers. If they want to scale down the number of custom orders - they can reduce the allocations for custom orders - but they need to start processing the backlog of custom orders ASAP.

I agree but in non-communicative Kia corporate fashion, that could signify that dealers had better start trying to match customers with incoming stock if they want to clear them off their log.

I could see them doing another month of straight allocations and then limiting special orders. It may piss some people off but is there anyone here who would be surprised?

You know how else they're rewarding us loyal paying customers in addition to this fact, right? With 2 price increases this year and less incentives to finally take delivery this month. KIA should be giving dealers with sold orders from last year finally being fulfilled this month dealer cash so the consumer doesn't have to eat these corporate increases.

Ok ok, last time I'll mention the damn price hikes and lack of incentives now. Ha

oh yeah, forgot to mention, even though I ordered the car in October they hit me with the up charge that went into effect for the new year. Add that to the shitty treatment.

Have a question for anyone that can help. Peak Kia North in CO is giving me a rough estimate of 6 months if I order with them but Royal Kia in Tucson is saying 3 months. Should I just go with Royal as they’re giving me an earlier delivery date? Or does it not matter as these are all just estimates?

Shipping for both are roughly the same. Peak Kia couldnt tell me how many orders were in front of me saying its nationally and wont be able to tell me. Royal told me they have 10 orders in front of me. Royal seems to know more but im worried theyre just BSing to get my sale. Any advice?

edit: Peak Kia did tell me they usually get a lot of cars in as they are a busier dealership

I will say this - I make maybe 2-3 phone calls in the AM to surrounding states, nothing crazy far.

They always respond by saying that SX-P is a sold order...so not for nothing...they are trying to get out of the backlog from that small sample size.
