  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Order to delivery time

I have a friend who works for IT at Kia Corporate. Remember?

No I didn't forget the rules.

Was just playing around. :)

Just talked to my dealer after sending him this SS from Failcat - he said none of those were customer orders....Kia just dropping vehicle inventory to dealers like its hot...

Hello, what about us? The loyal...patient...custom orders!?

View attachment 9356

Yeah - I have been watching the inventory at my dealership (Classic Kia of Carrollton in the DFW area) and their website now lists 25 Tellurides coming into their inventory! 25! I wonder how many of those are sold orders? I wouldn't think you would show sold orders on your website....but who knows. Maybe @StephenCantrelle can shed some light on this. 13 of the incoming inventory on their website are SX models. It looks like some of the inventory numbers match what Stephen has on his glass wall - if that is the case - it is weird they would be listed on the dealer website.

Given the current production volume - is sure does look like KIA is prioritizing inventory over sold orders. I have noticed inventory has started building up at local San Antonio dealerships...with markups of course. As we continue to see customers approaching a year wait - it shocks me that KIA is willing to risk their market reputation with the early adopters of the Telluride just to get inventory on dealer lots.

Just curious, but what's the big secret on failcat? Surely dealers can just hop on the internet and search for 5 secs to find this website and have the same info. So whats the deal?

Sold orders show as inventory on the main Kia site, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they automatically populate on dealers’ sites as well.

The domain before failcat that was doing this got locked out because of too many requests for VINs.

It is a tool that sidesteps the dealer process of getting intel. Corporate doesn't like it when consumers find a way to see through the dealership veil of secrecy. It is best to use it for research, track your vehicle or try to find an unsold unit. When you do - just don't tell people where you got the information. We don't want it shut down like the last one.

I wouldn't want to be the guy who gets the lookup tool cut off again.

Please respect the work of the Hall of Famers who made the site possible so it's available for future generations of Telluride hunters.

At this point in time we know:

1) many dealers snoop around these forums and don't post - can almost guarantee some have complained to Kia about our collective resources.
2) I can almost certainly guarantee that Kia knows about the site because their employees are watching this forum.

Don't get the tool taken away - but if you ask me, Kia knows about it and is letting it go on because what's better than a simple tool causing people to call a dealer to buy a vehicle that the dealer doesn't even know they have coming their way. Free marketing.

Just a theory.

well said. definitely can not tell dealers about it. This is for your own personal research. For example my car popped on failcat this morning so I texted my dealer to find out if theve any info. They just told me that new ETA is 9/7 instead of 9/5. So I copied the VIN from Failcat then had Stephen verify it for me. He did and it's my car. Mind you dealer says they dont have the VIN for me yet. Didnt argue with them. I just said thank you very much and see you on 9/7. 🕺 🕺 🕺;);)

How many of those are cancelled orders versus ordered for dealer stock?

Some more random stats for those tracking production numbers of the ever elusive Prestige trim.

July daily average of SX Prestige was 38/day. So far in August the plant is up to 52/day. Sure wish one of those were mine!
