Order to delivery time

I ordered mine on March 7th. Snow White pearl with prestige package, dune brown interior and towing package as well. My dealer have been very communicative about my order, and today it gave me my vin number and everything already. I’m not paying any markup or above invoice price. As much as I like this car, I wouldn’t do that ever. The dealer told me in one or two weeks I could have it here already. From Georgia to Florida, I could go pick it up myself anyways, lol.
Just curious, do you have founders club and did you ask if they will still honor it?

I do have Founders, printed and everything. I’m communicating directly with the inventory manager. Officially the founders club discount expires April 30th, if by miracle they deliver before that, I will get it for sure. Otherwise I would need to negotiate with Kia to see what happens there, I ordered on March 7th after all. On the other side, if I get it in May, it would be under the next cycle incentives, which as his opinion, they’re ussually a little better than the first wave. I have my detailed offer printed together with my deposit, so it would be either my same deal or something slightly better.

Everyone keeps saying that orders will be assigned as they make them, yet you have dealers that have the exact model you ordered 6 weeks ago for sale on their lots (2k miles away). You can't get a straight answer from anyone at Kia on an expected date and dealerships are maybe more clueless than consumers in a lot of cases. I am amazed at how you can build 100k's of cars a year but you can't track an order.

My dealer just informed me that my “order has been picked up and due to arrive mid June” (Moss/Gray S-AWD). Not sure what “picked up” refers to (VIN assigned yet? Build started?). However, he also said that Kia IS honoring Founders Club certificates on orders placed before April 30th, despite not being delivered. So with my mid June delivery, I’m still getting my first month paid. That was a welcomed surprise!

So for those of you who assumed you couldn’t use your Founders certificate because ordering is taking so long, be sure to ask your dealer about it.

That would be nice from Kia. Where is your local dealer? I'll give a call tomorrow to my dealer in Miami, Fl tomorrow as well to try to make them call to verify.

When did you place your order? We also were informed this week that our order from early April was finally accepted/picked-up/filled/activated. That's the very first step in the chain. Took 3 weeks! Moss/Gray S AWD, like your's.

March 22 it was placed. Was “accepted” on or before April 5. Seems like it took a couple weeks longer than yours. Did you get an expected delivery date yet?

Yes, the dealer said to expect "...towards the end of May." So probably in June ;)

Nice....!

Here is a message from a dealer near me... is this true? @StephenCantrelle This is their response when I stated many dealers have ordered custom vehicles from Kia.

Some manufactures are able to yes, however Kia doesn't do it. If we were able to, we would do so believe me. Now a dealership may tell you that they can in order to try and lock down your business, however whatever the factor allocates them is what they will receive. So you may be waiting months or longer for them to get that specific vehicle.

Some dealers aren’t allowed to order.. simple as that.. you can see people all over this site and Facebook who are putting in orders every day and getting orders filled and taking delivery of order units... this other guy is for lack of other words mistaken... seems the longest and most frustrating part of the waiting game is the SX Prestige AWD orders... they are taking by far the longest to fill and get delivered.

Thanks Stephen.

Do you happen to know what "filled" means with regard to order sequence?

First step is order.. second step is filled(pretty much means Kia Accepted order and is going to start production on exact unit)... then it gets produced.. then gets ready to be transported to dealer.. then goes in transit to dealer. Then arrives at dealer.

I know other manufacturer that do factory orders, Dealers can get black balled if they abuse the system. A dealer I know near me can not custom order because they would put in 100% fake orders. They only wanted what would sell quick so they made up a lot of different orders just for those models.

I know subaru and honda do this. I know that subaru and honda will also audit any dealer and they say that if there is not a deposit, non refundable in some dealers, it is not an order. I was told by several people that kia factory orders suck up allotments, which is the stupidest idea ever, but if they do, then I can see the factory order system being really abused.

When do you usually get the VIN number? I placed an order on march 25th accepted on the 28th. No change since.

Kia like other brands watch Eeeevvvveeerrrryyything... so it would not surprise me if they are monitoring order units and making sure they are be sold to exact clients being entered in with the order.

That would be a very dangerous and slippery slope to get caught and black balled from ordering future Tellurides.. (only getting what they randomly send you)..

@Gwyn to answer your 2nd question about Vin... that takes place once they start production on the unit.

I ordered a gravity grey w/grey int SX w/prestige and tow on March 11th. I have contacted my sales guy or dealership several times a week since then and got pretty much no info. I decided to actually go to the dealership today to see if they had any new information and magically they were able to tell me that there is a partial VIN assigned and it shows it should be delivered by May 15th. I want to be excited that I finally have a date I just find it a little odd that no one told me this info until went in there personally. Anyone know what partial VIN means?

Aren't all the SX model VINs basically "5XYP5DHC3LG" followed by the 6 digit serial number. I have never heard of assigning a partial VIN.
