• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... As you all know, getting your hands on a telluride is basically impossible. I found a dealer who has the one I want (SX AWD) but is charging 3k over MSRP. Should I go for it or just wait?

Depending on what it's worth to you and if you can afford to wait until supply catches up or the competition catches up.
If you don't need the car now, I would wait. Time is on the buyer's side.

3K doesn't seem so bad. My dealer is asking about 5-8K. Depending on when you need it, I might consider the 3K...

Just because they are asking for the extra $3K doesn't mean you must pay it. Like any offer price, it is a starting point for negotiations.

I agree with @zamboni , but it depends on what you want.

Everyone’s case is different. I look at it this way- if I’m after an SX and my dealer wants an extra 3, I could buy more vehicle with that wasted cash and get an SX Prestige...or more. Say I didn’t want a prestige...what else can I buy with 3k? Pretty sure i could find ways to spend that extra cash on something else rather than spending it to pad the dealer’s pocket.

The local dealer here prides themselves on not asking over sticker.

Only you can determine if 3k over is acceptable. I refuse to pay a dime over MSRP, I never even pay MSRP but I know this vehicle demands it. Also, how soon do you need a vehicle? If it's a want and not a need, order one from a dealer at MSRP, wait it out, and save the cash for something else. I ordered mine a week and a half ago, and am waiting 4-6 months because I have a perfectly functioning vehicle that the Telluride will be replacing.

In NY state, I found that dealers will sell for $4k over MSRP; one that wanted $4k over MSRP but includes about $2K worth of accessories at full retail; $2K over MSRP; MRSP; and two dealers willing to sell for a couple hundred under MSRP. Smaller markets will sell for less, but have less to sell. Was able to get mine at MSRP with discounted accessories added - less than 3 week wait. I was pretty flexible on color and willing drive several hours to pick it up.

Which dealer did you get yours from?

Try Destination Kia. Albany (dealer NY120 on failcat.) They have the largest allocation of Tellurides in NY state. They told me that 60% of their current allocation is spoken for -- that means 40% is up for grabs. They will ask for $2K over MSRP but you do not need to pay that. I found 4 Tellurides that fit my specs and went with a smaller dealer in western NY closer to me.

3k above MSRP isn’t bad at all- most dealerships in the Northern Virginia era are marking it up 10k above MSRP and they are still flying out of dealerships lol. Good luck and welcome!

I just bought my SX last week here in FL for sticker price -- not over. I went out of town, since my local dealership was also $3,000 over sticker. I didn't want to wait. If you're near Florida, I can give you my salesman's name. They are getting them in weekly. Good luck.

They say the reason the Telluride is so popular is the bang you get for the money. But you start paying over MSRP and that bang for your buck disappears fast.

Yup, 3-6k above MSRP or more, you are looking at a brand new Volvo XC90. And not even a base model, they are giving $4500 rebates on those vehicles right now...
