Paint chipping 1 month ols

Telluride is only 1 month old and saw these paint chips above the rear tire. Don’t think we caused this. Anyone else have paint chip issues?

Wow. I really can't see how this is a factory caused issue but on the other hand, I have no idea what could of caused these. Can you get a little closer. It almost appears the paint was rubbed through the layers exposing the primer and metal. Like someone sanded these, Weird.

Definitely doesn’t look like a bad defect from the factory. But hey you never know! Maybe someone bumped something into your car at the store parking lot? Just a thought. Guess the only thing would be to ask the dealer and see if they will cover it but I hardly think they will.

If it is indeed chipping, you should be able to easily remove more paint along that beveled edge. Or even at the same sections above the three other wheels/quarter panels.

Otherwise, like the others have said likely somebody damaged your paint. Especially if you only noticed it after parking in a public area.

Seriously tho looks like you got hit (or you hit something) with some vertical lines/scrapes on the dark plastic trim there to go with the paint removal. GL I know it sucks to deal with.

Having a wife and 3 of my kids driving, I'm always the one washing and detailing their (my) cars. I'm always the last to find out about these kind of things and generally get no reply when I ask how and why. People are so inconsiderate these days, its generally not their fault anyway. I once had someone park in front of my daughters Mini Cooper and unload their car be setting all their stuff on her hood, scratching and denting it in the process. From that kind of damage to your car, it looks like some one was moving something vertically and scraping the panel.

This is why I don’t let my wife drive my new ‘22 Ebony Black SXP AWD.

She has a ‘18 Sorento EX AWD Gravity Gray and has so far taken out the side molding of my garage, had it keyed at her work parking lot, apparently was in a rush to get out of the second garage and end up damaging the door and ripping the rear roof rack bar off the roof I guess as the door was coming down or something (yeah, the details on that are sketchy still, she just told me the roof rack bar fell off when coming out of the driveway, but my door is bent as well now), and lastly, my oldest daughter lowered the door while the back end was still in line with the door and the handle, because my wife didn’t pull far enough into the garage, despite the tennis balls hanging from the ceiling, and the handle on the garage door scraped down the tail gate until we were able to reverse it.

She also had a ‘08 LX Sorento that she backed into the side of the garage door in our old house and I had to remove the scuffed white paint from the rear left quarter panel and replace the broken tail light.

I reminder of of the above every time she ask if she can drive my car. It will be a cold day in Hell when I let her drive my Telly.

Yup, you topped me. That is harsh. And my wife wonders why I park farther out in the parking lot.

I think I would have to tell her I'll just buy you an ugly beater car since that is what the new car will look like after a few weeks of her driving it.

Haha, I always get grief for doing this. She likes to shame me for making her and the kids trek so far from the parking lot in the heat or in the cold. I always offer to drop them off and make the walk by myself.

I tell them the same thing. A $50K vehicle is the most expensive car I've ever owned, so for me, I'm trying to keep it in as good a shape as possible for as long as possible.

I have a 2023 telluride & my car is also a month old & I have the same problem. Paint is chipping along the edge of bumper just like this.

We have this issue and we went to the kia dealership about it and they never did anything about it

Those don't look like chips. It looks like paint got rubbed off and you can see the layers.
If those were chips they would have sharp cut edges, kind of like a rock chip.
