Please critique my planned order: SXP NF WG DB

I plan to order the following from Nationwide Kia in Baltimore. They charge MSRP. No discount, no extra fee. In this climate, I think that's reasonable. Do you agree?

Do you think the Wolf Gray and the Dune Brown interior will look okay together?

I worry that the black interior will not hold up to the wear and tear from the family. Any advice?

Msrp/zero fees & addendums is still very reasonable and is considered a deal, congrats.
Not sure why they would allow you to special order all your own options except for the floor mats. Things may have changed since we ordered but I'm pretty sure you can leave them off the order still. We did.
And there's been reports this year that the factory has been adding accessories to factory orders. They can be removed if your dealer catches it in time and calls the factory, otherwise your stuck with em.
Interior light kit can be replicated with Leds off Amazon for like $20, its best you don't waste your money on it anyway. There's threads to all these topics discussed here just search around. Color combo is sharp too. GL

The factory mud guards are quite small - many wish they hadn’t ordered them. WeatherTech makes much better mud guards.

I’d also suggest against the towing package and just go for the tow hitch & harness. The “self-leveling suspension” is just shocks that support some of the weight (with softer coil springs) and raise the vehicle back up after driving a few miles with a heavy load. Because the springs are softer the rear will sag even more at rest than one without the tow package. People has also had issues with the self-leveling shocks, and they’re quite a bit more expensive to replace than regular ones. They’re more for ride comfort than for helping with towing. If sagging is a concern you can get AirLift bags for around a hundred bucks that go inside the coil springs and are only used when needed.

The only thing I wanted to comment on was the black interior, Be aware with that color option, the headliner is a very light color. If one of your kids had dirty hands and touches the ceiling, it will leave a mark. The Dune option gives you a dark headliner. It's very much like an ultra-suede material. You can rub your hand across it and leave tracks, just like if it were long shag carpeting and footprints. Go to the website and build what you are looking for and you can change options and see exactly how each would look.

Maryland has a $499 doc fee limit, so all dealers charge that as far as I know. Expect to pay that, but overall it’s a very reasonable deal in today’s environment.

WG is very nice. DB is very nice. Having sat in a WG over DB model, I just don’t know if the pairing is that great. I kinda imagine black would go better with WG, and normally I’m not a fan of black interiors. But it comes down to personal preference. Try to see both in person if possible.

I like my illuminated door sills. It’s $300-ish. If this option interests you, see if you can order it in lieu of carpeted floor mats.

I like dune brown a lot. It’s in my car. But I don’t love it with WG. I admit I haven’t witnessed the combo in person. Good luck!

Interesting on Nationwide. I spoke with them 2 months ago and they wanted $2500 over MSRP for an order. Another member recently confirmed this was still the case. Did you have to negotiate them down or did they just change the policy?

I agree that the WeatherTech mud flaps are much better. The factor mud flaps are way to small to be effective.

I don't agree about the towing package. The self leveling shocks have worked well for us. We've done about 1000 miles of towing trailers and boats and another 1000 miles with our cargo carrier and they have been great.

Sounds like it'll be a great car no matter what you go with. My thoughts on some of the particulars:

• MSRP is great in this environment for this car. I was able to get $1,200 below MSRP with the Costco discount at Muncie Kia in Indiana. Trade-off is it's looking like it's a 6 month order to delivery timeline and I have a 4 hour trip to pick it up. Order to delivery timeline varies by dealer volume and allocation so be aware of that.
• I'm going with Black nappa for interior. I've seen blue jeans leave a tint on seats and I like the classic look of black. Also like that this is paired with the light grey interior headliner to lighten it up a bit. Really like the suede-like headliner.
• I have Weather Tech floor mats to match a beige interior in an Acura SUV now and I find it looks and feels too hard/industrial and starts to discolor with stains from road salt/dirt over the years. I'm going to Tuxmat floor mats which seem to offer the same protection but from what I've seen looks more textured and has a cushioned quality, probably not as nice as carpet but more protective like weather tech. The black to match the black leather/carpet will help hide stains that may otherwise show up.
• I'm more on the side of saving the Nightfall $1,395 expense versus the aesthetics of blacked out trim. Plus there's been cases of the blacked out trim starting to flake exposing what looks like standard trim underneath. Probably isolated cases but I'd be frustrated trying to get the dealer to fix it or frustrated looking at the blemishes later. Here's a thread on that Window trim flaking - Exp NF trim flaking off
• When I load things in back I want some protection for the back of the third row too when things bump them or when they are laid flat and have stuff on them. Canadian Kia dealers have a nicer, but more expensive, cargo tray that looks great and protects the back of the third row. There's a few threads on that and for about $250 total you can get it shipped to you from a Canadian dealer.
• Stock mud guards don't go down very far so likely won't offer much protection from mud being thrown up onto the car. Weather Tech offers Telluride mud guards that project down further, would offer better protection, appear easy to install, and seem reasonably priced.
• I was told by my dealer who has an excellent reputation for being honest and informed, that Kia will sometimes add options like the carpet floor mats. I expect my VIN to show up on failcat.com any day now and as soon as it does I'll check the window sticker and if unwanted items like carpet floor mats, cargo cover, etc. are there I'll ask the dealer if they can work with Kia to correct it.

All the aesthetics stuff is subjective and I'm sure whatever you choose will be terrific. Enjoy your car when it arrives!

You won't find any on Costco's site but a call or email to Lucas Boehm at Muncie Kia will allow you to confirm if they still honor the Costco program discount and what it is now so you can decide for yourself whether the savings are worth driving it or transporting back home. If you get in the order queue for Kia Muncie you can see below what the lead time for my SXP is looking like.

Dodged a bullet. This "kit" is dumb, it's not integrated into the vehicle's systems at all -- it's totally separate from the factory ambient lighting, and controlled/switched from a little button in the center console storage area. It looks tacky and aftermarket...because that's what it is, despite it being sold by Kia.

I also recommend the Canadian cargo liner (like @Mcs2000si ). Nice to have it be versatile with the seats going up/down.

I prefer the factory tow package, and at $795, I think it is a bargain. And its covered by your warranty from KIA. Myself, we ordered the plain SX NF instead, didn't really care for the suede look headliner. We wanted no part of all black interior here in the SE USA.

Getting yours at MSRP would qualify as a very good deal right now. I think it is hard for dealers to turn down the extra $$$. The dealer I ordered from sells ~ 35 Tellurides a month. If they instituted a $10,000 up charge, that's $350,000 a month more $$, or more than $4 million per year. And other nearby dealers are doing it. The pressure to join them has to be intense.

I think it really comes down to what you need and want in your new Telly.

DB wasn't an option for me with the MY21. I didn't think I would like black interior and worried about heat and kids. Honestly I am glad I didn't have a choice as I do like the color combo of the black interior with the WG. I have only had mine since May. I have 5000 miles already. No issues with the lighter headliner or the black leather.

I got the tow package. Haven't towed anything but I did have a fully loaded interior and the drive was so smooth none of my children got motion sickness.

I wanted the SX for the panoramic roof and Harmon Kardon stereo. AWD is something I have never had before but have always wanted. I wanted Prestige package for the heads-up display. I think the WG is the one color that should always have NF. It is a nice contrast.

You mentioned cargo tray - don't have and only imagine it would get in my way. I do intend to purchase the Canadian cargo liner with seatback protection. The carpet back there is the texture that every single blade of grass gets stuck to.

I have the mud guards. Visually I like the look. I would agree that they are too small to be effective.

Mine came with the carpet floor mats. I purchased Tuxmat. I find the weather tech too hard and visually unappealing. Tuxmat are more sporty and comfortable on bare feet.

I paid MSRP and doc fee of 250 as that is my state doc fee.

I love my NF Wolf Gray ! Constantly get compliments on the color.
