  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I contacted a dealer this morning about a vehicle listed in their inventory with a VIN but with no photos, under the assumption this is a vehicle on its way to their location. They responded immediately. At first they said yes it is available, when can you come in to do the paperwork. I then asked by email when it would actually be delivered. Immediate response is that vehicle is not available, it's been sold and when can I come in to do paperwork on one of the other 6 that are coming in next week. They said they don't have any information on what they are getting, just that they will arrive next week so no way to know if they will have the color/trim I'm looking for. They aren't local, are about an hour away.

Is this typical? I know they are in high demand, but are they just stringing me along by saying yes we have one, no we don't have one, we don't know what we are getting in the 6 that arrive next week? This is what I guess is a high volume dealer, Fucillo Kia north of Tampa in Wesley Chapel. I don't mind the idea of putting down a deposit but I don't want to work with a dealer that is playing games. If they don't know what they are getting on a delivery next week how could they possibly be able to give any idea on delivery.

Ive spoken with 20 dealers. This is very common reaponse from the majority ( 80% ) of the dealers. My local dealer once i found a good sales person was able see what they had coming in over the next 2 months. A second dealer here also showed me what they had arriving at the dealership she actually worked at, but also all the sister dealerships they have which was 4 other location around my area. Its a lot of misinformation out there so it takes some digging.

So your second dealer could see what they were getting, like an EX FWD in red, an SX AWD in white, etc?

The dealership I was referencing shows 30 Tellurides in inventory, only 3 of them have any photos but they all have VINs. I'm thinking they are listing everything on the way in=VINs, they know exactly what is coming for those 30=their descriptions from the VINs, but only 3 of them are there now=actual photos.

We have a dealer here that does that but their stock # says INTRANSIT if they don't have it. Once they have it, they assign it a stock #. So if it has a stock# it means they have it if it hasn't sold already.

Good Morning,
Wanted to add to the discussion. I am in the Ft.Worth, Texas area. We put down a deposit at a local dealership for an Ebony Black SX FWD non-Prestige w/Butterscotch interior on March 16th. I reached out to the dealership yesterday evening and spoke with my sales rep. to check in and see how things are coming along and see if there was anything in the pipeline headed my way. He proceeds to explain that there is a parts shortage for the 2nd row captains chairs that are affecting the assembly of the S and SX packages. Delivery of parts are expected to resume in April. I would like to hear if anyone that is in the business, or at least more connected than I, can verify this information or if any other future owners have heard the same thing from their dealers / sales reps.

I was “told” that they are not making the AWD version for a few months. So much FUD coming from the dealers. I really do not trust anything I am being told.

Here is Canada (Quebec), they started receiving Telluride at Kia dealers. All Canadian models are AWD.
