I contacted a dealer this morning about a vehicle listed in their inventory with a VIN but with no photos, under the assumption this is a vehicle on its way to their location. They responded immediately. At first they said yes it is available, when can you come in to do the paperwork. I then asked by email when it would actually be delivered. Immediate response is that vehicle is not available, it's been sold and when can I come in to do paperwork on one of the other 6 that are coming in next week. They said they don't have any information on what they are getting, just that they will arrive next week so no way to know if they will have the color/trim I'm looking for. They aren't local, are about an hour away.
Is this typical? I know they are in high demand, but are they just stringing me along by saying yes we have one, no we don't have one, we don't know what we are getting in the 6 that arrive next week? This is what I guess is a high volume dealer, Fucillo Kia north of Tampa in Wesley Chapel. I don't mind the idea of putting down a deposit but I don't want to work with a dealer that is playing games. If they don't know what they are getting on a delivery next week how could they possibly be able to give any idea on delivery.
