If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Quirks after 3 months

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
I took notes during my first 3 months with a 2022 SX Prestige Nightfall with Tow.

Overall this car is super duper superb. 98/100. Extremely pleased. These were the quirks I noticed.
  1. Cannot silence the beep when exiting running car
  2. Bumper proximity beeps lack a “you are super close! stop now!” tone. It’s the same tone from ~24” to 0”
  3. Driver profiles don’t save LED colors, HUD preferences, and more
  4. Unbuckled seat belt chime
  5. Driver seat can’t tilt forward or backward. This one is actually annoying. The seat only goes up and down, there’s no tilt axis. I’m 6’1” so basically I can’t tilt the seat bottom backward enough to get leg support, ever, period.
  6. Mood LEDs not bright enough
  7. Can’t silence blinkers
  8. Can’t have active assist on without beeps
  9. Head/fog lights don’t illuminate sides at all, as in left/right at a stop sign
  10. Gas tank capacity. 350 mile range is rather annoying, and we don’t even commute
  11. Busy HUD. When auto-steer and auto cruise control and HDA is on, the HUD is insane. It’s like 13 icons.
  12. Can’t lock car while running
  13. Remote start shuts off too easily
  14. Remote start requires pressing lock first
  15. Door and window child lock isn’t separate. So if you lock windows from rolling down, door child lock is on. Weird.
  16. Mirrors don’t tilt down when in Reverse
  17. (ADDED) When lane-keeping is active, and it decides the turn is too sharp to handle itself, it just… gives up and stops steering, with no beep or indication afaict.
  18. Running car must be in Park to open liftgate

Only #5 and #10 are more than a nitpick.

Let me know if I’m wrong about any!
My app allows me to run my car while it's locked. I can't say that I've tried otherwise. Why would you want to open the hatch while in gear? That seems more safety related. Also, you should be able to select what icons are present on the HUD, in the settings. My back up beeper changes but when you're really close. I was also annoyed by the child/window lock. Like, they're old enough to open the door but can't not play with the windows... Mines a 21 sx prestige nightfall. Not sure, aside from the logo what all is different.

#18 seems like a safety feature all cars should have. I don’t to put something in the trunk of a car that is running but not in park.

Some have disabled by unplugging the harness plugged into the buckle, or buying a spare seatbelt tongue to fit into the buckle. Of course you are sacrificing your own safety to do this.

It is possible to tile the seat bottom. The front part of the switch tilts the seat bottom up/down while the back part of the horizontal switch adjusts the seat height up/down.

What car can do this? Maybe a luxury brand I would imagine, but not standard for non-luxury such as Kia.

Go into your instrument cluster settings. Press the Mode button on your steering wheel > User Settings > Driver Assist > Warning Volume Off.

I also don’t like this restriction, but seems to be the norm for most modern push to start cars. There are roundabout ways to do it if you really need to lock. Using the mechanical key, using UVO link to remote lock, remote start the car while locked, keep the window rolled down until you close the door from outside, then reach in and lock and roll up the window. The last option still requires one of the first two options to then unlock the car.

True. Ways to bypass would be to open a front door first, or open the drivers door and step on the brake pedal real quick to takeover.

This is the same for Audis. Probably to do away with those manual lock switches on the rear door jambs.

I agree there should be some audible warning that LFA will/has turned off. Sometimes the LFA steering wheel icon will blink when it has a hard time detecting lane markers, but not always.

Are you saying you want to be able to remote start without the car door locked so you can get into the car and shift into gear and drive off without the key at all? Doesn’t that make it easier for thieves?
I think we know there is a seat cushion adjustment as shown in your illustration (thanks) … it’s just that it doesn’t “adjust high enough”! The seat needs to lift at least another 1.5 inches to fit my preferred position;.

10. Gas tank capacity. 350 mile range is rather annoying, and we don’t even commute

Nah this depends on which gas stations and what time of the day.. whcihs sucks. Because what this means is your getting more air than gas!! Im mostly sitting at 392 when i fill up.. cant remember what gas station i went to but i filled up and it said 430.. the most i ever seen...

Also my beep changes especially when i get really close if i keep ignoring it, it will stop itself...

If it’s running, and in Drive, then someone is in the driver seat with their foot on the brake - so let me open the dang trunk so my wife can load groceries or the dog or whatever.

If it’s running, and in Drive, and no one is in the driver’s seat - then the trunk is not your issue.

You only have like 30 seconds for the car to sense the fob is nearby for auto takeover, or it will shut off.
Ahh so that’s the “rule” to keep remote start On. Thanks! I’ll be able to set my key in the seat while loading babies into seats with the AC cooling down the hot car.

Second thought I have a big life insurance policy on my wife and dog. I’ll have them load the trunk while I keep my foot on the brake vs putting the gear selector in park. I guess I’m sensitive to this because I know a kid who was run over and killed in a church parking lot because the drive didn’t put the vehicle in park then their foot slipped off the brake (wet day) and they got pedal confusion (new driver) and hit the gas. All of it wouldn’t have happen if they put the car in park or… the car wouldn’t have let them open the trunk while in gear

I agree, same as you can't open open doors if the car isn't in park.

Really?? Is it that difficult to put the car in park so your wife can be safe while loading the groceries?

#17 - Shouldn't you always be in control of the car? This is an ASSIST feature, not self-driving.
