Realistic Availability

TL;DR Probably going to purchase a Telluride, are they becoming more available where one can get one quickly or is there still a wait? Is Costco legit?
I have an appointment to test drive the Telluride tomorrow morning, I want either the LX or EX(want the bench seat). The dilemma I am in is that my car died and I'm driving my wife's car currently. I commute 100 miles a day and her car is older than mine so I would like to get in a new vehicle sooner than later. My original plan was to wait until the end of the year and trade my car in. So now that my timeline is shortened. If I walk into the dealership, test drive and love it, will I be able to drive one off the lot tomorrow, have to wait a few weeks, or have to order one and wait longer? Thankfully my wife has a work vehicle, so we don't have to get a new vehicle right away, I can wait a little, but, I don't want to wait months. Also, is the Costco buying service really legit? I will also be test driving the Palisade tomorrow afternoon and then an Ascent this weekend.

If it is on the lot, you like it, and it isn't already spoken for, theoretically you should be free to buy it assuming you agree on price. Where you end up waiting is if they don't have what you want available on the lot. What a lot of folks on this forum are up against is wanting a trim level or color that isn't available on the lot, so they order what they want and start waiting.

I know you don't want to hear this, but have you considered buying used? At 100 miles a day, you are destroying the value of any car you own. You will blow through the warranty in 4 years, assuming you are only a work driver. You will be looking for a new one in 5 years.

If you bought a used toyota rav 4 or a highlander if you need the 3 seats. You could save yourself enough money over the next few years to get a brand new telluride, just for weekend driving.

You can pick up a used rav 4 for about 16,000 dollars. You can run it until you get the first major repair bill. Lets say you run it for 4 years, you sell it for 5,000.

Just on that you save yourself 26,000 dollars. you buy another used car for work, you saved yourself 52,000 dollars. You could get the SXP for just weekend car.

If you run the telluride for 4 years at 25k, you will get maybe 12,000 dollars back assuming you sell it yourself. Even if you got the magical toyota highlander residual, you would still only get 16,000 if you sold it yourself.

Sorry just makes my teeth hurt to see someone toss 52,000 dollars down the drain in 8 years.

The Costco buying service IS LEGIT. Contact Costco and they will refer you to an authorized dealer, like KIA of Muncie (IN). Costco will send you an authorization number and the dealer info. You CAN order through KIA of Muncie but you WILL have to wait to get what you want. Talk to Jason or Lucas at KIA of Muncie. They are GREAT to work with and totally LEGIT!

I was curious if the one's they allow people to test drive are just ones that haven't been picked up by their owners yet. I'm not too picky on color. Only colors I'm not a fan of is the Everlasting Silver and Sangria. Thanks for the input.
