• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I've seen the discussions regarding the release buttons on the top of the seat and in the rear of the car malfunctioning and not releasing the seat.
I have the opposite problem. My driver's side rear seat releases without warning. It has released when no one was in it and got the back of the driver's seat while driving. It also also released with my son sitting in it and it folded him up. Fortunately, he's tall enough it didn't squash him.
It seems that if the seat is reclined a bit, it doesn't have the propensity to fold, but this still seems like a safety issue.
I took the issue to both my dealer and to KIA corporate and was told that my warranty has expired and that I need to pay for an entire new seat at the price of $2600.
Has anyone else had this issue with their rear seats?

I'd be contacting NHTSA and at the same time, let cooperate know you are doing so.

I have the same issue on my passenger side rear. The button on the side works but not the one on the top. At times the motor will activate on its own and seat slides forward. I believe the issue is with the top button. I'm certain the wiring for that button is cut and or shorted. I need to figure out how to take it apart so I can troubleshoot the button and its wiring.

When mine fails, the buttons do not work at all. It'll fold on its own and then I checked the three buttons and none worked. I agree that its a wiring issue, but I think this is on Kia to fix. Nothing we've done to the vehicle has caused this safety issue. Instead, my dealership wanted $2500 to replace the seat track. I have no idea how they diagnosed it as the track. I think they are wrong.

It's the harness on the bottom of the seat malfunctioning. Mine was pinched and it was fixed under warrantee
