• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... RECALL 20V-436 - 2020 Telluride - Inoperative Trailer Brake Lights

Following up from a DM conversation with @Dwatts60 on this topic in case it helps someone else. He solved his problem with no trailer lights. Turns out his new to him Telluride did have the recall listed on this thread performed but it resulted in a loose wire. Panel removed, wire connection corrected and he now has brake lights on the trailer. No $450 diagnostic required.
I know this is an old post, but can you explain where the loose wire was?
We just bought a 2020 EX with only 19500 miles on it and I've added an aftermarket hitch and a Curt 4-wire module.
All is good, except no brake lights on any trailer I hook up and not light on my tester.
I have read for hours and can see lots of folks with the issue but can't find the exact fix for it.
I do have the 30A fuse in the box and will probably replace it with the 15A on the recall, if Kia doesn't.
The car is going onto the shop Monday for the 3 recalls it needs and a couple of other issues.
I'd like to fine the fix in case Kia doesn't want to fix it.
(FYI, I plan to check for harness pin 4 voltage tomorrow).

There was a diagram of how the wires were moved on the board under the dash

This recall was focused on the inoperative brake lights when using Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and towing. (I personally like to have my foot controlling the speed and brake when towing.) If you have a problem with the trailer brake lights (or any trailer lights not coming on) when using a tow harness, there was also a recall to replace the Kia OEM 4-pin harness. That recall was focused on a potentially a poor location that might result in the junction box getting dirty and/or overheating. However, I noticed that the amperage rating was rather low on the OEM harness as compared to the early aftermarket options from Curt and Tekonsha. I think that depending on if your trailer uses LED bulbs or incandescent bulbs and if you have things like running light strips you might find on an enclosed trailer, the amperage rating on the harness might not be high enough to drive the load with the trailers that have more than the minimum number of bulbs unless you switch all the bulbs to LED which typically have a lower current draw or you install a higher rating harness.
