• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Recall - 22V-626 4-pin Tow Hitch Harness Fire

My reading of the TSB said they measured back the exact length of the new pigtail and cut the old, so no extension...
Maybe just adding the red connectors in the splice added the right amount of resistance they needed to avoid a problem. As I said, the molded plastic on my original 4-way flat connector looked to be getting prematurely warn with just regular use the 4 years I've had it, so I would be surprised if that was the part of the problem.

Plausible thought...

Never noticed any issue with my 4-flat connector and I have an auxiliary brake & turn signals always connected - but it does use LEDs - so very little draw...

Is anyone still waiting to get their recall completed because, according to my dealer, the harness is on back order from Kia? I went to have this done, (20’ Kia SX, with factory 4-pin harness) at the end of May, and dealer still says the harness is on back order. Anyone else experiencing this?

If I understand what is in the TSB it is not for a harness. It is a kit that includes an extension to modify the OEM harness. If you don’t have the affected harness and you just need a 4-way flat, there are some better aftermarket options that are much cheaper.

Yes, I need the recall extension harness. Which is what they are telling me is on back order to complete the recall. They have the fuse. I just can’t believe it’s taking so long.

Haven't you been following the sad saga of the tow harness? Volumes of posting, hundreds of pissed off owners. Word is being spread now that they have it figured out and new harnesses are beginning to reach the dealers. The first ones as of Aug 1 are going to people with "special needs" (whatever that is). But a month or two down the road and the log jam should break.

We are talking about the 4-pin harness with the recall not the 7-pin for the 2023-2024 which is just not available.
