• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

I'm w/ you here, tired of subscriptions. I have an app on my Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid that I've used maybe twice. You could adjust interior temp, charging time, and some other things. Novelty wore off quick on using the app. They charge $119/year for base services on it. So was like... eh not worth it. Figure the same will happen w/ the Telluride once we get it. The remote start is stupid via app only, but who knows by the time mine comes they may have it on the fob.
How do you like the Hybrid?

It’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Absolutely awesome. Plug it in and it gets 11-15 miles per charge (when super cold on the low end of miles) which isn’t a ton but enough for regular driving around here. We are seeing 58mpg roughly and about 950 miles or so per tank of gas. So it’s pretty good in that regard even if the electric only isn’t a ton of miles.

My wife likes all that stuff, I like that it has over 100hp on demand electric boost with a push of the pedal. So well over 400hp and hit sub 5 to 60 on a huge vehicle. Surprisingly it’s really good on the snow, light years better than my Infiniti.

If they made a 3 row around the same size as the Telluride I’d probably be buying that.

Would also be interesting if Kia made a hybrid that operated similarly with extra HP on demand and a plug in.

Someone needs to order up the UAE Telluride remote with the remote start button and see if they can get it to work.

My guess is the key fob remote start equipment is in the US spec vehicles but firmware limited by VIN and/or options file (which would set the car as US spec and to use IVO vs remote start via key).

The video from Lucas was evil.

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?

It has “remote start” from your phone only, much like ONSTAR. The APP has not been working appropriately. Also, after one year you have to pay for it. Not sure the cost (just got mine yesterday). This is a bit upsetting as we paid for the SXP, it should be standard on it IMO.

The thing is I would pay for both a fob remote start and the UVO sub. I love the UVO way of remote starting when I am commuting home on the train but when I walk in my kitchen and the car is in my line of sight it's such an annoyance. And if you forgot to lock your doors good luck getting it started with any haste.

I always lock it with the app first even if the doors are already locked. If I don't lock them first with the app, most times the app won't start it then.

WE PAY 35 TO 40K FOR THE CAR AND NO autostart FROM THE KEYFOB

I paid more than that and didn't get it. ;)

I have it on my keyfob on my Jeep Wangler. I do like using it in the winter. But it wasn't a make or break option for me on the Telluride. My wife, who drives the Telluride, could not really care less about having it.

I maybe in the minority here...but I'd rather have a responsive app (still waiting for it), than a physical button on my fob.

I like that I can remote start my car before I log-off the network at work. It's also a bonus that I can do this via the website/portal, since we can't have personal cell phones at work.

Didn’t know you could do that. I’m in the same boat. Hopefully it works on government internet.

That is indeed pretty cool......that said, the scary part.... when you think about it, is that anything "internet accessible" is potentially "hackable".....at least with the "old fashioned" button on the fob remote start the chances of someone else being able to access your vehicle is much narrower.

can we crowdsource some funding for this experiment? lol 😂 😂 😂 😂

Once I have my car I was actually thinking of doing that.

Estimated date of pickup is just a month out 😬

I have a S and it has remote start,on the slow side but it works.

Does anyone know if you can install a remote start without voiding the warranty. I asked at Kia and they at this point told me they have none that they can install. They also said it could void the warranty.

No, in the USA, they would have to prove that the remote start was the cause of any failure.... so, if your exhaust falls off, I don't think they would be able to prove that your remote start caused that.
