• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Ordered non-takeover. Thanks for sharing the video.

I just installed the non-takeover with smart app. The install was easy other than getting my big hands in the space where the plugs were. The App is so much quicker than UVO . It doesn't make sense that a 3rd party works better.

Non-takeover instructions if anyone is interested....

takeover instructions anyone?

Yeah, written talks about removing the glove box...

Several, including the video, indicates removing the glove box is not required... unless more room is needed...

Haven't done mine yet - my oversized hands may answer that question...

I had to removed the glove box but it was easy. Again my issue was getting my big body in between the seat and the dash and then getting my hands into the space where the plugs are located. The plugs run parallel to the side of the car and are only a few inches from the side.

Well a bummer is that they shipped me the incorrect kit for a Toyota 4 Runner LOL. They have been great and responsive with communication. So won’t get to install this weekend as planned.

Someone who installs should post a video of using the fob and how the responds when you approach, unlock.

Seems the engine will kill from what zi am reading. This has been the standard For factory remote start systems for the most part from what I know, but I have been impressed with the UVO remote starting not killing the engine when I get in the car.

Ya I think that it is the takeover version which will allow that but I’d like to see instructions and/or a video first on how difficult that is to install

Yes the the engine turns off when you unlock the door.

The 2021 telluride comes with remote start, hopefully it can work on the 2020 model with a little programming, then again Kia is making money on the UVO app so I don’t know if they will be willing to lose the revenue stream, but we can hope!!

Are you sure they are making money on the app?!?!

Most forum members here refuse to pay the ridiculous asking price. Maybe if they were a bit more reasonable with the price, they would get more takers.

Once the UVO subscription expires if you want to keep it you have to pay, I already got an email from Kia saying that.

Just installed mine... my extra large hands required taking the glove box out... wasn't a big deal...

Hope the video helps... Would it be nicer to have take-over, certainly; but I can like with having to restart as a trade-off for no wire splicing...

I didn't order the smart start phone add on. So I emailed them to see if I can order it separately.

you could add the phone module at any time below is a link:

CarLink Phone App Add On Module Extended Range Upgrade

Use code RANGEUP at checkout and it will bring the price down as if you bought the bundle initially.

@CJ_313 @James216 @bogie Have either of you tested how long the car runs before shutting off? Is it also 10 minutes?

I also like how the DRL (and probably the parking lights) stay on after starting so you can tell the car is running. Unlike UVO remote start.

Curious, did you test the range?

He bought the non-takeover for OEM remote. So pretty much same range as he had before with OEM remote. Probably 100 foot or less.
