• THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSIONS RELATING TO BUYING A TELLURIDE. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT SECTION FOR POSTING MESSAGES ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN BUYING A TELLURIDE. THANK YOU!

  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just received notice that the VIN has been created for the Telluride we ordered earlier this month. The dealer is asking us to come tomorrow and sign the contract. The telly eta is 4/12. Is it normal to sign a contract before the Telly arrives?

Wait for delivery so you can inspect the vehicle. And you want to wait to make sure nothing happens in transit. Tell them you'll sign it when it's in their hot little hands.

Now, if they just want you to put a deposit - that's normal.

My dealer did not want to create any documents until they had the car in their lot. Your dealer might be low on sales number for this month(?). It would be best to sign any contracts after you've inspected the new car, but it is also okay for you to sign a contract as long as you have a contingency clause in the contract. Or have the sales manager, GM, and finance manager sign a document stating If you are not 100% satisfied with delivery, you will cancel the contract with 100% refund (with compensation for your time wasted, if you want to push it). Make sure the VIN they provided matches up with what you ordered at failcat and go over the contract with a magnifying glass.

That's what I was thinking. Their latest response is that I need to "paper" it with finance so they don't sell it when it comes in. Apparently my deposit doesn't reserve the vehicle.

Deposit should be enough, but with the popularity of the Telluride, unfortunately I've seen horror stories of people's car getting swept under them. If you want to play with them, you can tell them you will sign the contract(with contingency) but you are only available after Apr 1. :D
