If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi,

I just placed an order for a 2021 Telluride SX. Color is Glacial Pearl White with Nightfall package.

I paid MSRP and have to wait 3-6 months for delivery (grrr!!)

Curious to hear what options you consider worthwhile, and if it’s better to go stock vs aftermarket. (Mud guards, Rear bumper protector, cross bars, and of course the Harmon Kardon stereo system).

Thanks!
Darrin

Congratulations and welcome to the Telluride Forum !!

By "placed an order", you mean you recently put down your deposit to get in line behind many other customers of the dealership for a SX allocation, right?

Hopefully your actual order gets picked up by KFOS sooner than later. Six months would be rough but 3 isn't bad. If you spec'd out an AWD Telly, that might put you on the longer end of a wait.

Did you go FWD or AWD? :)

Worthwhile options (in my opinion, in order of importance to me):

#1: OEM Carpeted Cargo Mat w/ Seat Back Protection <---- rubberized layer and velcro attachment to the cargo area/seats, cut perfectly to fit edge to edge and offer full protection. The synthetic carpet is low-maintenance and easy to vacuum/wash if necessary. Must have accessory/option for me. It's thin and strong and light enough so that if you need to access your storage well, just lift and you're good to go. Also, if you need to lay additional protection on top of this, it's awesome because it sits like a natural skin on your back cargo area so you can bring in additional mats/plastic/canvas sheets for dogs/dog stuff/gardening stuff/snowboard equipment/hunting gear/fishing gear/tac gear/camping gear/anything. Only $110-$115 which is great compared to the crazy expensive Canadian version.

#2: OEM Cargo Cover <---- depends on where you live, but I live in a state full of thieving scumbags near my workplace and not too far from lots of places where I park so, yeah, this is worthwhile for me, plus the Telly has cuts in the cargo area designed specifically for this accessory. It can cost up to $100 less if you can get it in your factory order than if you order it à la carte from Parts department.

#3: OEM All-Weather Floor Mats w/ TELLURIDE stamped into the material. Perfect material, perfect fit, and perfect attachment into the floor hook tabs. Made in South Korea of an amazing material that's comfortable for your feet and heels in virtually any position where you put your feet. Just the right amount of give and resistance, when you tap your left foot on the mats, easy to wipe down or hose down.

#4: OEM Wheel Locks: see #2

Enjoy your Telly and hanging out here and living vicariously through us who already received our amazing vehicles :)

The stock mud guards are more for looks than anything. WeatherTech makes a set of mud guards that have better coverage. Cross bars are a toss up; I don’t carry anything on top so I don’t pay mush attention to cross bars. The other two items I don’t have and no opinion really 🤷‍♂️

Do you have the WeatherTech mud guards?

Thanks for the detailed response. It’s nice to have AWD in Pennsylvania. Yes, the dealer took $500 to place the order. Like I said, I’m not happy about paying MSRP, but it’s still better than paying $3,500 OVER MSRP like some dealers were asking. That’s Crazy!!
Is the OEM carpeted cargo mat better than the all-weather rubber mats that are popular?

Thank you! The kids are getting older so we finally decided to replace the Toyota Sienna. We still need a third row (3 kids) and wanted 2nd row captain seats. Our options were KT, Volvo XC-90, and Acura MDX. After two test drives each, the underdog Telluride was named winner!

In my opinion yes. This is an all-weather mat with a full rubberized layer isolating the cargo bed panels edge to edge and measured to fit perfectly. The synthetic “carpeting” is so low-maintenance that i’ve barely had to do a thing, plus this this should have been included with the Telly because it makes accessing the storage well easy with a simple lift of the back edge. It’s lightweight and offers great coverage but if you still want another layer on top, you can do so. I bought a ToughPro one piece plastic sheet cargo mat with the closed cell structure that traps dirt, fluids, sand in case i ever use it to haul messy drippy payloads but that’s still rolled up in the garage and only be used as-needed. For 99.9% of tasks the OEM Carpeted Cargo Mat is more than enough
and it attaches securely and doesn’t move around at all due to velcro. You’ll see when you pick up your car should you order this.
