• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Trying to figure out how to flip back to CarPlay after leaving to mess with the radio or something. Is there a one button fix?

3 ways for single hard button press.

  1. Set your favorite button (the star) button to phone projection. Press and hold to set if needed. Should open straight to carplay when set.
  2. For Carplay audio, press the “Mode” button on the left side of the steering wheel. Press and hold to enable the option if needed.
  3. This third option only works if you are not on an active UVO subscription, press the UVO button on the the overhead console where the map lights are. Should open to carplay nav app last used.

On my 2021 Telluride S trim, I just push this button to get back to Carplay

Great recommendations here.

I saw someone recommend #1 on this forum back when I had just reserved my Telluride. When I picked up the car one of the first things I did was set the “star” button to pull up phone projection (CarPlay). Haven’t looked back since. It is very handy.

This is exactly what I was looking for - I think my issue is projection wasn’t an option because I tried without phone plugged in.

… it is also possible I didn’t realize that screen was scrollable 🤦🏽‍♂️

Is there any way to do a split screen with CarPlay and what's currently playing via audio (iPhone, XM, FM, etc)

I can't figure out how to show Google Maps and what my phone is currently playing or what my XM is tuned to - is it not possible?

Setup > device connections > CarPlay. Uncheck use split screen.

Make sure your phone is unplugged before you do this.

I tried this but all I get is a full screen of Google Maps. I would love to figure this out. Thanks.

Try pushing the small icon in the bottom left of the screen. it brings up the app you have in CarPlay and will bring up the split screen . . . at least it does for me.

If you want to see your maps from your phone and what is currently playing on your phone, you have to make sure you have your CarPlay set to full screen (setup > device connections > phone projection/CarPlay, uncheck split screen). Then make sure the maps app you want is the one you used last. Then go to the CarPlay dashboard screen.

Or, if you want to view your maps on CarPlay and see your radio info (not playing via your phone), make sure you have CarPlay set to split screen (check split screen at the path I described above). Then when you have CarPlay going and showing maps, you can turn on the radio info over on the right 1/3 of the screen.

I appreciate the help, guys. All I can accomplish is Google maps on 2/3 screen, and another map (apple maps?) on the right 1/3. If I bring up the car radio, it takes up the 2/3 screen, and the unwanted map app is on the right 1/3.

The easiest way to do what you want would first involve setting the star button to CarPlay (phone projection).

Then start CarPlay, get to your map, and make sure your phone isn’t playing any sound.

Then push the radio hard button to start radio.

Then push the star button to pop back into CarPlay view. Radio will continue to play. If the radio isn’t shown on the right 1/3, swipe vertically until you get to its display.
