• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone else noticed in the SX Prestige that the front captain’s seats aren’t fully covered in the Napa leather on both sides where the seat connects with the plastic base? There is fabric easily noticeable on the lower portions of my seats. My biggest concern is staining from spilled coffee or from the elements when getting in/out of the car. This is only for the front seats. Just trying to see is this is a production defect or just Kia trying to save $.

Not a defect, that is how they all are. The stretchy fabric helps to pull the leather tight.

It is normal that only the seat parts you actually sit on/against are leather. The rest is another material.

Thanks for the responses. I also find it interesting that the back captains chairs are fully covered. Totally get the side no one can see is cloth, but as you enter the vehicle, it’s evident that even the passenger side has a little more coverage than my driver’s side...

Take it to your dealer. The clips holding your leather seat cover in place need to be adjusted. Then you won't see the fabric.

It most likely has to do with the power seats and being heated and cooled. Both of our SX, one is prestige and one is not, have the extra fabric below the leather. Remembering back to our 2016 optimas with power/heated/cooled seats, the same was true with those.

I applied scotchguard to that fabric area to help prevent stains

I currently have the high-end Ford Explorer and the leather/fabric combination is exactly the same as you are describing, so it think it's a "normal."

I’m currently looking at Prestige vs Non-Prestige. How would you rate these, in terms of seats, headliner, and HUD?
Any big advantage to Prestige, or think you could really do without?

I just got my telly with Prestige (Dune Brown). I never had HUD before and it is truly amazing! The other benefit for me was that my kids (14yrs and 12 yrs) get the heated and cooled seats too. Harmon Kardon system sounds amazing too... Just a few thoughts to consider.

I love the Prestige. It’s seems so premium with that headliner and the HUD is really nice. If you spending 45k plus for a vehicle, get the top trim. You won’t regret it.

100% this! My wife asked why so much and I said the same thing....

Thanks, I test drove one but wasn’t sure if HUD was useful or something that I would eventually turn off. Do you keep it active, and is it worthwhile?

Another consideration is that I’m considering the Gray interior. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Premium with Nappa appears to be a much lighter shade of Gray (almost white?) than the non-premium trim. I’ve seen a few posts speaking to the ability to keep these seats clean. Not sure in practice which is more durable- Nappa or non-Nappa?

Dune Brown does look awesome but I believe it comes with the darker headliner. My wife would prefer a lighter, “airier” feel. SMH

I know, right? With an SXP and AWD, Tow and Color charge, I believe mine will tip the scales at $50k. That’s before tax. Lol

It’s active and worthwhile in my opinion. You never need to worry about blind spots. It will show you speed, the speed limit, if cars are to the left or right of you. You can even change channels on the radio while looking at your HUD. It will also display red light cameras and speed cameras. I like it 👍

But you get everything a premium vehicle has, like a Lincoln Aviator, for 20k less. Just do it. Lol
