• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... That.... is concerning? Do you park the car anywhere unusual?

Have you tried to clean it?

I tried to clean it but it's not working. The trim got water stain that was embedded in it and it's turning orange.
And it's all over the car but not on the roof rails.

Was said water contaminated in some way? Still odd.... Near sort of chemical manufacturing/processing?

Are the roof rails plastic vs the aluminum window trim?

On the kia site they said satin chrome trim and anodized chrome roof rails,
But for sure the two are in metal not plastic.

That looks like a bad anodize job. If the rails had any moisture or volatiles before that anodize is applied it gets trapped. It begins to degrade with time and attack the metal and anodize. A clear anodize will get a yellowish tint. Looks like they had a hiccup in production.

I manufacture military grade electronic systems that go into harsh environments (outside). We have saw that type of result before, but normally it's after a few months to a year of being exposed.

I would probably recommend going to the dealer for warranty replacement.... Let us know how it goes?

I call kia and they said to bring the car to the dealer and he will take some photos ans send them to kia.

I know its not helpful to you, but typically that isn't a wide spread problem. It would be a few parts in a row, at most a days worth of production before its caught. Unfortunately there is no real test to see if anodize has been applied properly. The only option is to send samples to a testing lab that can handle environmental stress screening (ESS testing). They simulate the harsh environment at a much faster pace to see if the materials hold up properly. Its a very expensive option. As much as we pay for vehicles, they are considered a consumer grade item, so that level of testing is not going to be cost justified.

Thank you for the explanation, it's good to know that isn't a wide spread problem.

Could this be the premium "Copper Chrome," only available on SX Prestige?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I realize it's no joking matter for anyone affected. Hopefully they'll make it right for you soon.

Sorry for my english but i speak french...
So I came back from the dealer, we think that the problem is the wax I used on the car. I used Meguiar's ultimate wax regulary on my Audi for many years and i used it the the Kia with this result. The wax seem to react with the chrome of the trim. The technician have to used compound to remove the stain. I will see with the time if the stain will come back and if it the case then the wax was not the problem.

Kia buff my Telluride and the orange disappear. Did you use polymer wax on it
