  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 25 years ago was my last new car purchase, I swore I'd never buy another new car. Well , last Monday I bought a brand new 2021 Telluride AWD S model, white with black interior, at sticker price.

The dealer has sold 4 in as many days.

Nice!! Now you can search this Forum and learn all about the telluride and you can ask any questions you may have and you’ll get some answers. Did you have your last car for 25 years or did you just get used cars over the years?

I've owned a few used cars over the past 25 years. Typically I'd buy something a couple years old, with modest millage, etc...

I do still have the 1996 4wd Dodge Dakota I last bought new... it runs fine, but the frame is rusted so badly its not safe to drive. My Telluride purchase is somewhat intended to replace my need for a small hauler , but doing so with more versatility for passengers... I figure if I can pull a moderate size utility trailer I don't really need a truck.

Welcome and congratulations! Was your purchase an order or are you driving your Telly now? I can’t wait to sit on my Dune Brown seats, and smell that new car smell again!

It might also be worth noting... that prior to the Telluride purchase, I had bought a used 2019 Kia Sorento AWD vehicle, a couple years ago, it had around 30,000 miles on it when I bought it used. I drove this vehicle for about a year, before it got totaled in an accident. I really liked that vehicle, it had AWD, V6, etc... I went to try and replace it , and realized they no longer put the V6 in the Sorento, and also discovered the Telluride.

The V6 , AWD, and up to 5000 pound towing is what I really wanted... when I found out the 3rd row seat in the Telluride was actually usable , I started researching the Telluride, rather than another Sorento. I don't tow very often, and probably would never tow more than about 3000 pounds and mostly never tow more than 2000 for any distance.

So, anyway, I wasn't too thrilled about paying $40,000+ on a vehicle, but after some further thought, I decided I'd do it. I more or less expect , or hope to drive the Telluride for many, many years... if it doesn't work out that way, I either misjudged my needs or the Telluride's abilities, or something unexpected occurs in my future needs.

Bottom line is I'm very optimistic I made a good choice.

My Telluride was found on a lot about 12 miles from my home. I had been looking all over within 3 hours from my home , for one that met my desires, initially I wasn't really having much success, and then the one I bought popped up in stock at my local dealer... it wasn't exactly what I wanted , but was around $3500 cheaper than what I really wanted ( I wanted a EX with Premium package ( getting me captains chairs and leather , as well as towing package ). So, what I ended up with is the S, no towing package, and no leather , but does have the Captains seats in mid row.

I briefly thought about ordering, but the long wait time was not appealing , and not knowing exactly what finance options would be available at time of delivery, were all things I didn't want to have to deal with.

So, my compromise was living with SOFINO . I now realize the towing package wasn't really as useful or as important as I originally thought ( self leveling , not really being what I originally thought it was ). I'll add a Curt tow hitch myself, and if I need to level the vehicle I'll look into airbags for the rear, etc...

I personally HATE new car smell, gives me a headache. I've been leaving the windows rolled down out in the driveway trying to get ride of that annoying smell. I guess I'm one of the only people who actually truly hate that smell.

It mostly replaced a 2019 AWD Sorento that I had for a while ( bought it used ). It got totaled , and when I went looking to buy another, I discovered Telluride , and realized it was probably a better fit for most of my needs.

of course the Sorento originally was intended to replace my old Dodge Dakota, which had gotten to the point where it wasn't safe to drive... My goal to have a vehicle that was more useful to me than an old small pickup truck. I need to haul a trailer occasionally, but also want the value and/or abilities of something that is more than 2wd on occasion ( snow, occasional light off roading, etc... )
