If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Is anyone seeing there AWD Telluride Avg MPG's are approx 3-4 lower than what the average on the engine specs? the city MPG is 19 and highway is 22 or 23. Wife has had her Telluride for 1 month and she is averaging 16 MPGs.

Yep. I’ve had mine for officially one week and i need to fill up today with less than 300 miles on the tank. That’s with Eco on and driving cautiously still with no hard acceleration

It gets better. And there's lots of variation in the type of driving. Short trips in the city = low gas mileage. Longer trips on highway = higher gas mileage. I used to get around 15-16 in the city only (no mixed driving). But, now that driving is mixed, I'm seeing around 20. On AWD.

Should improve over time, but also could have something to do with the quality of the gas/and how much ethanol it has.

In a recent 1500 mile trip we averaged 28mpg. City average is generally 22mpg. I notice that on a steady highway drive I average approximately 30 mpg. My wife averages less

Yup, I live in the city, and drive in heavy traffic. Also use remote start a lot. So my mpg is crap. But if I do a highway road trip without traffic I get good mileage in the high 20’s almost 30 mpg.

Did she get worse mileage than EPA estimates in her previous vehicle as well? My guess is a combination of city/highway mix being more low speed than the EPA test and just driving habits. My wife consistently gets 2-3 MPG worse mileage than me in the same vehicle on the same route, she just isn't as efficient of a driver.

Make sure you all are resetting the MPG after each fill up, especially the ones that have had it for a couple of weeks. New vehicles often sit idling for longer periods of time than normal during set up and even during pre delivery which gets calculated into the average MPG. A simple reset at fill up will give you a more accurate reading.

Sounds like someone has a lead foot 😃

With the engine properly warmed up, on interstate that's flat and no traffic, I am getting around 32-33 with my AWD

I don't live in a city...but, what you are describing does not surprise me....I get the same on the long highway drives!!

You should also mention what speed your going. I get about 24 average on the highway at 85 mph with my EX AWD. I get significantly better mileage when I am on highways with a 70 mph speed limit. The highway I usually travel on is also not flat.

My biggest problem with the MPG is that the MPG shown by the vehicle is always 2-3 MPG greater than when you calculate it by hand. On the screen, everything is great (20-22), but in reality it is always around 19. That is still in the realm of okayness given it is 90% city, but I drive in Econ 100% and I do not have a lead foot at all. I always get better MPG than expected in cars I drive.

EDIT: I will also add that I ALMOST always use the same gas station and pump when I re-fuel to establish controls and reduce error. So I feel like my hand calculations are pretty spot on.

I have 625 miles on my SX premier and am getting a horrible 14 mpg when Kia claims 19 city. I live in upstate NY so cold temps. Will this get better or could something be wrong?

Really depends on driving habits. If you are not really conservative with your driving habits, 14mpg sounds about right. I get below the advertised fuel economy as well unless I am driving long trips on the highway with no heavy traffic.

Rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper driving, use your remote start. Forget about it. Not going to get great mileage. My range on fuel ups usually say 330 miles.

Have you reset the trip odometer at fill up? If you haven’t, it is calculating a lot of idle time, especially when showing the vehicle and when setting things up. I am averaging 21 mpg and I leave my auto stop on. I have an SXP and do not sit in heavy traffic.

I was wondering what speed the Telluride is most fuel efficient at. I'm thinking 55mph is likely the sweet spot just from watching the instruments.

In other news, does anyone else keep a record of their odometer and gallons of fuel with every fill-up? I keep a Google Excel doc in my Google Drive and update it with every fill-up. On the topic of mpg, you can't really trust the numbers your Telluride is telling you. When I see ~25mpg average on my gauges I'm actually calculating around 22.8mpg according to my spreadsheet. 19.84 mpg is my lowest and 23.88 mpg is my best run yet. 2021 SX AWD, btw.

I'm curious if others are experiencing the same?

I use Fuelly for odometer and gas fill ups. Quite handy

Liberal use of remote start or lots of sitting (like waiting to pick kids up from school) will also yield abysmal fuel economy numbers 😀
