Rear seat receivers with kids car seats... Waaayyyy to short, hard to buckle.

Is this for or just the front sunroof? Our SX has a button next to the button to open the sunroof which open/closes the rear sunroof cover. The front sunroof cover is still manual.

Correct... For the front sunroof. The rear is fully automatic. Which begs the question, why? I have a 2006 Mercedes E55 that has a panoramic sunroof and both the front and rear sunroof shades are fully automatic. One good thing (at least so far) is that the sunroof shade in the front doesn't seem to slide back from stopping/going like it does in our Sorento.

New LX owner here. Love the car even with a few quirks.

• Lots of different button combinations to simply turn the lights on when the doors are opened. One button to turn on lights when doors are open, as well as a button to turn on all interior lights as well as a toggle switch for rear interior light. I finally figured it out but it took a few tries.
• Lack of LED lights inside. I think this is LX specific but I will be upgrading to LED interior lights soon.
• No remote start on the remote. The only option for the remote start is the KIA Access app which is super slow.
• If you have child car seats installed, the second-row seats don't move forward enough to get people in the third row and the button to move the second-row seats doesn't work. The VW Atlas seats tip forward as well as sliding forward even with car seats installed and this would be a nice feature for the Telluride.

Anyone come up with a solution on how to deactivate the seatbelt chime other than plugging a piece into the seat belt latch, I need to get rid of this chime while I drive thru my buildings parking lots its so aggravating.

Its very simple, under the front seats there is a black wire that comes out of where the belt buckles and it connects to the white clip, just disconnect the wire from it and the seatbelt sign and the annoying chime are gone!
i did this today and test drove it.. result no chime no seatbelt sign on the dash display.
very simple and easy!

As a northerner, my current gripe is how snow and ice accumulate in the wiper groove/well area. It blocks the washer nozzles and the vent.

Having to put the wipers in service mode when you want to lift them is also a bit of a pain.
Up here, when it snows or we get freezing rain, it's common practice to lift your wipers off the windshield to prevent them from icing onto the glass and to make cleaning easier.

Not a deal breaker, just mildly annoying.

Oh! Does anyone else find the idle of the engine to be loud?

Check out the “Vibration” thread in the Drivetrain category. A number of others have reported this. Apparently no solution yet ...

I’ve noticed this also. I think it has to do with the air cavitation under the vehicle. Kia needs to put a better spoiler on the front.

After the first 1000 KMs with my Telluride I decided to jot down a few quirks and issues. Overall, love the car, the look and styling. For reference, our prior family car was a 2016 Volvo XC90 and 2011 Subaru Forrester. I have a Kia Optima already and am a big believer in Kia and their product!

2020 Telluride SX (in Canada we have AWD, Full Safety Packages and 20” Wheels (not black)

In no particular order...

The Quirks/Issues:

Matte Chrome trim on outer door panels upper (near windows) attract smudge marks easily. Think refrigerator door.

Auto start Off button – should be allowed to shut off permanently not a per trip reset

Front outer armrests I found narrow

Fit finish upholstery and trim panels – I found the trim and fit and finish quite good esp where your eye sees (dashboard, upper panels) however once you go deeper and down there are definitely some trim and fit issues. Our model had a number of bad upholstery trims and plastic fits where you can see where KIA’s volume car roots comes from…and oversight in assembly. I might put in another article.

Menu button on Home Screen – on the LCD there is a “Menu” button on top left. You would think pressing this intuitively will take you to the main screen but it takes you to a config setup. Menu is always the main screen in any PC!

Front hood carving – the front hood is styled with a V shaped feature which indents the hood. I find myself distracted by this. The sunlight reflecting off the metal is distracting to me as a driver. I’ve gotten use to it but its definitely is a prominent feature in front of your face every day.

Gas consumption bad – I haven’t done any measures. But gas mileage seems to be a lot worse than I expected. It seems to suck more fuel than I expected even in “ECO” mode.

SX wheels – We all agree the SX 20” alloy wheels are no good (aka Heart, Fox shape). I agree.

Seatbelt indicator – Kia went overboard on the “No Seatbelt” indicator. Loud and persistent and stays on for too long. I thought of a place where this is bad. If you take off your seatbelt to try to lean over and kiss your passenger, good luck, the indicator (loud and annoying) will certainly kill the mood!

Sharp door panel — Front doors have deep and quite long plastic trim bottom panels. The corner of them are quite sharp and I’ve left a gash in my shin from hitting them accidentally. Its quite curved too which allows it to “catch” pants and legs easier. If it was metal there wouldn’t be the ‘sharp and pointy’ edge which plastic produces.

Nav while driving – You are unable to use / type Nav while driving. Often, I tell my wife to program the Nav while we drive. Unless my car is off or in P she can’t program the Nav.

Dual exhaust – a SUV like this needs dual rear exhaust on both sides. It would look much better.

Steering wheel size – I find the steering wheel size a bit small. I like driving with my hands inside the 3-6 position but they don’t seem to fit the small slot very well. And I have small hands. I find myself struggling to find a comfortable hand position (other than 10/2 of course)

Hot screen in hot weather – NAV screen gets quite warm in direct sunlight. Its position on the dash of course it will get hot but it seems abnormally warm for an electronic device.

I agree about the Nav screen. I purchased a gps sunscreen that attaches with Velcro and stuck it on the back of the infotainment center and it helps with the direct sunlight problem. I love my Telluride, coming from a Sorento, Traverse, Trailblazer...

Gas mileage is decent, actually better than the smaller Sorento...during this winter us bad, but so is every other comparable vehicle.

The Navigation can voice activated when driving.

I agree with the media screen needing to be shaded from sunlight.... and my only other oneis headlight being so bright, I get flashed a lot... but it seems a “fix” is already happening.

Any other quirks or interesting features?

Not really a quirk, but I find 20" tires to be too blingy. Just a personal preference, but I prefer a smaller size wheels with more meaty tires (larger sidewall) to help with the potholes.

Assuming your wheels have no damage and your tires don't have many miles on them, your dealer may swap you a set of 18"s off a new Telluride at zero cost to you (they'll be able to sell the lower model with the bigger wheels for an upcharge).

• Setting warning volume to low doesn’t affect the LDW, BCW or RCCW warning volume levels. Still as loud as default. Turning off warning tone does not have wheel vibration for LDW, only visual warnings on the dash/HUD.
• When you don’t set rear climate to face ventilation, it blows air to the footwell of the third row
• Mpg fuel economy measures even while car is idling in Park. I feel this is inaccurate measurement for driving efficiency.
• Cannot play video files on the Uvo infotainment screen, even while in Park.
• Front drivers seat cushion does not adjust beyond flat. If you are a driver like me who likes to have the thigh position higher than my butt position.

When you say loud, can you please describe what is it, knocking, ticking squeaking, idling high? do you hear it inside the car in idle or standing outside next to that? I test drove Highlander and felt that engine while was quiet in idle in cabin it was crazy loud even with average acceleration.

There is usually a way to disable to seat belt chime, I just haven’t learned it yet. Any sorento owners have luck doing this on their vehicle? T-ride may be similar. And yes. I know the best way is to buckle the belt....

Please don't wait until you are on the ground injured to think, 'I should have used my seat belt'.
