If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does anyone have an idea why the telluride shuts down when I park near an object? I am hoping this is a collision warning when parking???

Do you mean the engine - i.e. when you have Idle Start/Stop enabled? Or does it shut down when you shift into park? Maybe add a few more details.

It shouldn't shut off completely when parking - but the idle start / stop will often activate, and then the engine starts up again when shifted into Park. Just deactivate the idle stop / go. See your manual for that detail.

If it's fully shutting down before you put it into park and the vehicle is turning off without you pressing the start/stop button... then you would appear to have a problem.

It shuts off when I stop then starts back up after placed in park. I think that you have answered my question. Sounds like the idle start. thanks

Yep, that's the idle start / stop. It's annoying when parking - I disable it.

Has anyone figured out a way around this? At minimum, it’s annoying to have the idle start/stop feature turn the engine off (when coming to a stop), then immediately start the engine back up (when shifting to park). It’s especially annoying when the ignition is then immediately turned off (as when parking in the garage). More concerning to me is the senselessly unnecessary wear and tear of this happening every time the vehicle is parked.

I realize the idle stop/start feature can be turned off (though, again, annoyingly has to be done each time vehicle is turned on).

Hoping someone may have figured out another creative work-around?

This is an industry standard...not just a KIA thing. And yes - it is annoying! I'm just glad the Telluride has a convenient button to deactivate the start/stop.

@kynmkrby i have found that most idle stop and go systems do not activate if you only press lightly on the brake pedal. If you are able to slow down then ease off the pedal, the engine won’t stop. But if you always press hard on the brakes, then your only option to disable ISG is the override off switch by the shift lever.

@Tellthemride Thanks so much! Pressing lightly on the brake pedal works like a charm! (y)

Now, let’s see if I can train the wife to do this when parking 😁

The one other quirk to mention here is with this is with the cameras. So say you are parking and using the cameras. As you slow, the engine will stop.... and the cameras shut off (well shit, I'm trying to park near something and take it slow and use the cameras to see before moving forward more). Then if you let off the brake a tiny bit more the engine comes on and they pop back on.

Yeah, ISG when parking is a mess - so is auto hold. I have to disable those to park most of the time - esp when pulling into garage. I'm about to resort to the business card method (shove it into side gap) to prevent ISG from activating.

Yeah, I'm sure some engineer thought it was a great idea to only allow the cameras to work with the engine running. But real world practicality and use hits :). Fortunately I know how to get it to work with either turning off autostop/start or letting off the brake slightly, but imagine they'll address that down the road. Heck, would be great if it's just a software function and can get a software update at some point.

My name is Vic, I have a 2020 Telluride It has that start stop feature, when I purchased the vehicle in May 2019 that feature worked fine. About 2 months ago it stopped working, I took it back to the dealership and was told this feature does not work when it cold out, I thought that was Bull , a few days Later it was 76 degrees out , and that feature still did not work I took it back to the dealer and was told iIhad to leave the vehicle so they could run some tests, and after several hours they found that the module that controls this feature was not working and they had to order a part that was a week ago. I still have not heard anything from them. Has anyone had this problem?

what does "stopped working" mean? Does it shut off and not start back up or does it not shut off when it's typically supposed to?

I wish mine would stop working so I wouldn't have to push that button everytime to turn it off...LOL.. I'll trade ya parts :)
