If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The 2023 Towing Saga Part 2 - Finally good news!

Thanks. I inquired about having it added as a line item on my order/allocation before my Telly is built. Let’s see what the dealer says.
Don't let any dealers fool you as my special order came in yesterday after 29 days from date of order and the hitch is on the Window sticker along with the other 2 options I added and its on the vehicle...So it can be done now and $575 as an option is probably cheaper than what any dealer may do it for.

Finally getting my hitch for my 2024!!

I had wanted to wait to even order my 2024 until I could have the hitch as a PIO instead of DIO which is more expensive, but there was a miscommunication and I got the first 2024 on my dealer's lot. In the end I am glad, even though it will cost more overall.

I love my Telly and love it more now that I have a hitch.

E Trailer.com has a 4 pin harness #119190 with install video on their web site.....I have their hitch #e45zr mounted on my 2023 telly S ....I have not bought the harness from them but at this point I probably will......Its a little bit of work but it does work and they stand behind that....At this point waiting on KIA and their B S is a waste of time!!!!
Do you know if ETrailer or anyone else has a 7-pin for the 2024 Telly?

You can get an OEM 7 pin now. Or are you specifically looking for third party?

Would prefer the OEM. Do you have a link?
Installed complete kit 09/25/2023
S9F61 Tow Hitch Kit with B $478.00
S9F67 Tow Hitch Harness $198.00
81800 Power Latch Asy $ 0.00
Labor $125.00 (I thought this was very reasonable)
Shop Supplies $ 12.50
There is info in this conversation (and maybe another or two) on this forum.

I quoted the above from earlier post with the new hitch/harness/latch kit that is now available for MY2023 and pre Oct MY2024. You can find the memo that went to dealers about the parts and pieces - posted in late August in this conversation.

I had the entire kit installed yesterday and my part numbers are the same as above:
S9F61 AU100CCC - Tow Hitch Kit (hitch, cover, bumper cover)
S9F67 AC701CCC - Tow Hitch Harness
I don't have the number for the power latch assembly, but it was part of the kit they installed per the Kia memo that went to dealers.

I am happy to report that my Canadian '23 X-Line is now fully hitched from the dealer! I received a call in October that the parts had arrived and they would hold them for me. Today I finally was able to bring it in and now I can't wait to tow something.

For those wondering, here is the part numbers and pricing in Canadian dollars as they appeared on my invoice
  • S9H03-AP200 Trailer Hitch - $739
  • S9F67-AC801 Tow Hitch Harness - $239.99
  • 1 hour labor - $170
  • 81800-S9600A Power Latch Assembly-PWR N/C
  • Labor for power latch "recall" - N/C
  • Dealer discounts ($114.90)
  • Total: $1,034.10 + GST (approx $750 USD)

Which dealer did you work with?

Mine, in Québec, still denies the parts are available.

I haven't seen this mentioned before, so thought I'd add it to the knowledge base...

Hooked our small cargo trailer up yesterday and noticed something that might be of interest to those of you who use the hitch for bikes and similar loads.

After hitching the trailer up (and before connecting the lights), I did a quick test and found what others had seen. As soon as I tried backing up, got the beeps and emergency braking. As expected.

I then plugged in my 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor and tried it again. No beeps, no emergency braking! So those of you who use the hitch for anything other than towing, this can be a solution to the backup alert/braking issue!

Note that is with the (Palisade) wiring harness, and my 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor which has very small LEDs to aid in troubleshooting by testing the vehicle wiring.

Mark

P.S. Forgot to mention the trailer lights worked perfect, and the effect of towing a 1500lb trailer was almost unnoticeable (other than some extra bouncing)
Question: does this adapter ever cause an alert "Check trailer left turn signal"? My hitch was installed yesterday and I bought the same adapter hoping to use it with a bike rack. Every little light works fine, but the car complains about the signal light being broken. This is without a trailer attached of course so there is no tail light to provide a decent amount of resistance.

Concerned it is just me... Wish I had a trailer I could test with :(

Can you try using a 12VDC testest light? They run about $10 @ Canadian Tire and other car parts shops.

Hook the aligator clip to chassis ground and put the probe-end to the turn signal contact to see if you have residual power going to the tester with and without the blinker activated. You may want to do this in a shady area as the test light could be dim.

So.... I picked up a '24 SX X Pro on 11-2 and paid $895 to have the dealer install the tow hitch. I was told this would be done with OEM parts. I picked up the car and noticed that a Curt hitch was installed with a hand notched trim panel and a 4-pin connector. I was reassured this was the KIA OEM hitch, which it is clearly not. I want to go back to the dealership and demand the OEM parts be installed but want to make sure I have the part #'s correct. How do I know if my vehicle requires the new latch?

Which dealership, if you don’t mind me asking?

I want to make sure I don’t run into a similar issue. 😬

If you are in the USA, use the official letter from KIA USA, which has been posted many times here, and show it to your dealer.

I’ve got it saved 😉

UPDATE: I have found a trailer with a 7 blade connector and tested my install. Everything is working fine!

Apparently the little hopkins adapter I bought does not have enough "load" for the Telluride to accept it and it thinks a bulb or wire is burnt out. Now I know! I was able to test it with a real trailer and each light works great.
