• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Love the Black SXP... Have one as well with Black interior.. Recommend a few things...

Get it ceramic-ed. I did and no waxing..I just take it to a NO TOUCH carwash...soap and rinse. The water just beads off.... I also went the full treatment... all glass and plastic has been treated, as well as UV treatment on the interior. The wheels/tires are treated and rinse off well.

then... I tinted the front windows the same as the back one..

All I added was Weather Tech mats...

My dealer gave me 4 free oil changes, tire rotation, check up and top fluids (every 6 months for 2 years) and they downloaded software into the Sound System and it does sound better...

Enjoy your T-Ride... I see more and more of them on the road but very few SXs.

Middle one is the setup for the dog...or me if wife has her way. the others are pics of it after ceramic-ed

Don't feel like spending the $$$ on a full ceramic coating. Will try the new turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic spray coating. I have a monthly subscription with one of my local car washes for (~ $18/month).

What was the sound system update?

maybe we have an age diff...am headed to 72... I don't have the energy to wax the roof and rims. So...soap, water, and drip dry ...saves time and what I think is $ over time. Some people enjoy the " wax on...wax off" routine...anymore...not I. do what you can to keep the shine. Enjoy

Ebony Black/Butterscotch SX. Owned it for about 3 weeks now.

Got a ceramic coating the day after I got it. I love black vehicles but hate the maintenance. After watching it applied, it's definitely something I could have done myself. Regardless, I'm pleased with it, and my first wash was crazy simple. Probably the fastest wash I've ever done, though I've only really worked with a brand new paint once before. A pre-rinse, then Optimum No Rinse with distilled water, followed by drying with Opti-Seal (one spray per panel).

If I wash the Telluride weekly, and assuming it's not crazy dirty, I think I could get that routine down to about 20-25 minutes. Tack on another 10-15 minutes for the wheels/tires if I don't let them get too bad.

I thought I could do the ceramic myself as well so I asked around... Good Luck is what I was told. If the vehicle is NOT clean ( 2 or 3 washes with clean water and "rags" )
and anything left anywhere..it will cause a blemish. I learned of a guy who did his own and.. it was FUBAR... It was a new corvette. He went to the same shop I did asking if it could be corrected... he said yes BUT...it ended up costing much more. So is $1200 a lot for what my ride got.?..maybe, but... I got a 7+ year guarantee with it and it is protected front to rear, side to side, top to bottom, inside and out as well as the glass, plastics, tires, wheels and the interior. I go to a brush-less car wash ...only a good soap and rinse... and drive away as all the water beads off. Looks like I just waxed it. I do this once a week now during the winter. By summer I will buy a Foam Gun and do it myself.

Don't kick yourself if you got a good shop to do it... Love the Black and keep it looking like ebony. I have a black interior as well. The only thing I get dirty there is the Weather Techs.... vacuum and wet cloth. Oh... and the shop that did my ceramic..noted..If I have a (shudder) fender bender.. note to insurance company...to include the cost of the coating on new paint and body part.

PS..love the running boards... (a KIA Item?) ENJOY!!!!!

Opticoat Pro+ ? Your story sounds very similar to mine. Not sure where you got yours done but mine was in Phoenix, AZ. The person who applied it said pretty much the same thing, I paid the same price, got the same coverage, and said the same thing about the fender bender.

Love the Telluride and the color. When clean it looks better than anything out there, it's just the hardest to maintain. I've accepted that fact 3 black cars ago, but this is my first ceramic coating.

And yes the running boards were installed from the factory. They're great for the kids and my parents. I more often than not just step over them though.

Yup...Opticoat... The running boards weren't offered when I ordered mine....Mine is here in Western PA.

This is my T-Ride...

How do I find a good place to do mine? Questions to ask? What do they do to the interior? Thanks for any guidance, ours has 400 miles on it, want to get it protected.

Do you have any Classic Car Clubs there?? As some of the members or even ask dealers of high end cars...

What was wrong with the sound system? Is this software update something I should make sure to ask about when I pick mine up? (First I'm hearing of this) Thanks!

I didn't ask..it was on the list of "things to do" with my first oil change...

Check the TSB thread. It's an infotainment software update for certain build dates.

I've been waiting a long time to post some pictures of my own in this thread! Like many of you promised...well worth the wait. Pictures don't do this SUV justice. I've had it for just a few hours and already very, very impressed. If anyone is on the fence about the butterscotch...just do it! Absolutely gorgeous, everyone at the dealership raved about the combo. I got lucky because I thought I'd like it but never was able to see it in person and just went for it. Glad I did and the side steps really finish it off...even though I'll never physically use them other than maybe to wash the top of the car and my kids, they look awesome in my opinion. Looking forward to learning more about all the features and hopefully enjoying this ride for many years. For those of you still waiting...rest assured, you'll be glad you did.

That third shot of just the front end should be a Kia commercial...nice work! I'm obviously biased but there is no better combo for the contrast of the amber DRLs than ebony black, just looks so sharp. When I pull up behind someone, they'll know for certain what ride I'm in...and if they don't, they'll probably google it as soon as they get the chance...
