• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Bought my Telly a few weeks back in Miami, at MSRP. It’s a white EX!

Love the car, no issues to report, but boy did I have a sh*#%y day from he!! yesterday with that thing!!!

So it all started with me ordering the Brenthon badges. Got them in quickly and looked up a local body shop in my area that could swap them with the OEM Kia badges for me. My thought process was that if I tried, I would surely mess the paint up and scratch the grille. So, my (poor) decision to allow someone else to do it commenced!

I stopped by a few shops and got estimates. At my final stop, the manager of the shop (rated well online), said he could do it right now, wasn’t a problem, he could do it without damaging anything. You guess it, they caused a couple super small chips in the rear paint while prying the badge off. The chips were around the border of the emblem and one chip was directly underneath the emblem. Manager says sorry, says he should have done it himself and would fix it. Not sure what they did, but looks like they tried to smooth it out and fill it in with some touch up paint. Not visible to the naked eye anymore - standing at normal distance - but if you look closely, you can definitely see the touch up. Great, my new Telly and I already screwed it up!

But wait, there’s more!!!

I stopped at Advanced Auto Parts on the way home to grab some cleaning supplies to wash it. While washing, I noticed super small specs of white all over any black on the car (reminder, my car is white). WTF!! It looked as if there were particles of paint either at the shop that removed the emblems or one of the other shops I stopped at, and it got all over my Telly!!! So, I spent hours with goof-off and washing solutions removing the specs from all the black material (to include trim pieces, grille, windows, etc!)

But wait, there’s more!!!

Initially while trying to get the specs of paint off one of the windows, I stupidly used one of those green Brillo sponges and scratched the window!!

Status Updates:

The specs of white are - I believe (mostly at least) removed from what I can see. I’m sure they are on the paint, but since my car is white, I can’t see them. Should I do anything with the paint at this point since I know the specs are there and just can’t be seen?

I’ll probably have to replace the window I scratched, but may try to clay bar it first.

I can’t say publicly what I will do to the f*** shop manager if I see him ever again!!!

I still love my Telly.

Like I said, not really visible at a distance anymore, but I know it’s there still!

If you really want to fix this you need to go back to the shop and ask the manager to fix the damage, even it means them taking it to a reputable body shop so they can do the repair correctly. If they refuse, ask for a complete refund...it’s dumb to pay money to have your new car destroyed. Then take it to a body shop and get the work done properly, and send the manager the bill.

I will never bring my car back there! I didn’t pay them a penny!

First world problems. Seriously though what's the point of replacing the badge? Seems like a complete waste of time and makes people think you're ashamed of the brand.

The Kia logo is hideous. To each his own.

You'd hit the nail in the head sir. This has created so much stress and anger for the OP, all for vanity. But he's right, its his money... 🤷‍♀️
