SO, here's the problem as I am beginning to see it:

- There are next to ZERO Tellurides in inventory at dealers lots.
- If there ARE some in inventory, there is something wrong: Salvage title, undesirable Trim, INSANELY high mileage (how does a 2021 have 60 thousand miles on it?!?!)
- If there is one on the lot, not spoken for, and there is nothing majorly wrong with it, it is OBNOXIOUSLY overpriced. (Think, $60k for an EX). If it's new, it will have a $10k market adjustment
- If there is a dealership that is charging only MSRP, they don't have inventory, but they will let you do a custom build, BUT, you have to wait about 12-20 months, and, even better, you can only sign up for that noise if you are "in their local market."

SO, in summation, I am screwed. I live in the Philly metro area of NJ. EVERY. SINGLE. DEALERSHIP is charging top tier market adjustments on new vehicles, used vehicles are more than the new ones, and I am unable to go outside of my market, because no one within a realistic radius will take my custom order.

Oh well.....looks like I'll hang on to my C300 until this bubble bursts.

Absolute insanity.

This is an issue across the board unfortunately. Have to be willing to travel to get a good deal in this market. I picked up our EX-P at MSRP in Mississippi, some 580 miles from home. Salesman posted it on Facebook as available, called and got my name on it, then flew in a couple of days later and drove it home. The SX we ordered in Muncie, IN, for $1000 below MSRP and they're about 780 miles from home. Our two local dealers are opposite ends of the spectrum. One is $10-15k above, while the other is at MSRP. We were fine with the wait which is why we went to Muncie to save a little bit, and see some family up there when we go to pick it up. Thanks to holiday shut down and COVID spike in January, the wait got pushed back beyond a planned road trip that we needed a 3 row vehicle for, which is why I picked up that EX-P. That's the one benefit of this market, I should easily break even and maybe even make money (after taxes even!) on the EX-P when the SX comes in.

You simply haven't looked hard enough. 100 miles north of you at Ableoff, my man Peter will order one for you at MSRP, 6-8 month wait.

Have you tried Murray kia in Conshohocken?? They are an msrp dealership. Although I know about 2 months ago they stopped taking orders on sx trim. Not sure if this is still the case.

I contacted Murray Kia in Conshohocken on Monday. A salesman by the name of Roger texted me and said “there would be a two year wait on SX trim right now”

Yup. 12-20 months, if they were even taking ANY orders, which they aren’t.

Even better, they aren't taking ANY orders on ANY EX's, OR any AWD.

Wow that's crazy, I ordered in September and waited 6.5 months. They did qoute me 8-12 month though. I think Murray is conservative with their estimates. I know that november and December orders for Murray are starting to be picked up by Kia now.

So my conclusion is that they are either giving longer wait times on purpose or they know something we dont... maybe their monthly allotment is about to decrease or maybe something else. It's definitely strange how much their wait times extended in just a few months.

This is exactly why I'm fed up and ready to give up though; one person says they ordered LAST WEEK and got an estimate of 4-6 months. I got an email DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, that states "12-20" months. You got quoted 8-12, and got it in 6. There is no solid info, even from the same dealership.

And I am LOATHE to give these people any information about me. Any time I reach out, they want name, number, email, and I just get spammed relentlessly about coming in to buy Tellurides that they don't even have. UGH.

I have an LX coming, my custom order @ MSRP. It should be arriving by June-July, DFW area. You are welcome to take it if you need one. I can understand how hard it is to buy a family car, over paying hard earned money is painful. I know LX is not widely preferred, but I ordered it for myself and changed my mind now.

I definitely appreciate that, but like you said, I’m looking for either an SX, or an EX with the Prestige, so I get my captains chairs in the back.

This also goes to my last post; I don’t know how people are paying for these cars, plus the traveling to get them! I’d have to fly to Texas, then drive back to JERSEY?!?! That’s a couple extra thousand dollars right there!

Try Sussman kia in willow grove. They had someone bail on an order and I got one for $2k over MSRP. Worth it to me, a 12 month wait was out of the question.

I would say you got lucky! Congrats. I reached out to Sussman. No dice.

Yeah, we sure did. I happened to follow up after my initial email and a few days later the guy reached out to me when someone bailed. We had to “settle” for an LX but it’s all good. My wife is happy so that’s all that matters.

Have you looked into the Hyundai palisade? Pacifico and Faulkner in Philly sell for MSRP. Before we got the telluride call I was going to get a Palisade from them.

RK kia in Vineland kept reaching out to me. They were over MSRP but you could always try to haggle. I think I read someone getting a telly at MSRP there a few months ago.

My wait of 6 months so far noted my dealership was getting 10-12 vins a month, but this month that number jumped to 26, I’m thinking production is increasing so things are going to finally start moving. Hang in there

One way plane tickets aren't much. Have the dealership pick you up at the airport and drive back.

This is crazy. Maybe I got lucky in mid October. Called a few dealers around the Pittsburgh metro area and Mike Kelly had one that a customer had just canceled. SXP at msrp in 2.5 months. Keep trying.

This is the story with every make, not just Kia.

It also doesn't help when a lot of people who got a 20-21 model are trading it for a 22 by ordering it and waiting because of the market we're in. Normally, those people would probably keep their cars for 3-4 or more years.
