• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’m driving to northern Oregon to visit family soon in my SX-P AWD. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with putting chains/cables on their Telluride. I’ve had some terrible experiences with chaining up and would hate to damage my wheels. Any recommendations?

Per the manual, the use of tire chains is discouraged and Kia recommends the use of snow tires instead. If unavoidable, the manual recommends the use of AutoSocks (fabric snow chains).

Yes. snow tires should be fine. Chains are such a pain in the butt.

Thanks for the replies! Where I’m at in Northern California, it doesn’t snow. We do go to Tahoe sometimes but getting snow tires just for the handful of times I need it seems a little overkill. I have heard of tire cables before that have some sort of protection for the rims but I’ve never heard of AutoSocks before. I’ll have to look into it.

I've had experience with autosocks on my 2021 Telluride. Easy to apply and effective; however, a relatively short life span. I drove 5 miles on snow and they were beginning to fall apart.
