• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... H,
I am looking at buying a new Telluride AWD SX with the tow package. I just joined the Forum and really appreciate all the information from peoples posts and responses. But from what I've read on towing, towing posts have focused on maximum weight, tongue weight, and braking issues. In East Texas,, two conditions I frequently encounter are mud/soft ground (from rain saturation) and slippery boat ramps (whether from ice or wet vegetation (e.g algae or weeds). Does anyone have any input on those conditions? My past experience has been with 4X4 Sequoia, so the lo setting in 4WD usually did the trick. What AWD setting would be the best for dealing with mud or slippery surface? Thanks.

If you are that worried about slipping change the tires to something more aggressive. You'll be fine. I've owned a Sequoia Platinum and I changed the tires out on that. The original Bridgestones were junk.

Unfortunately there is no “Tow Mode” on the Telluride, but the 4WD lock mode—which I believe works up to 40 mph—should be fine for these situations.

I have yet to pull my 17 1/2 foot bass boat with our Telluride but I am pretty confident you won't have any problems with a concrete or paved ramp when it is slippery. I typically use my Nissan Xterra which is similar weight, power, and tire width. Aggressive all terrain tires mean nothing on a paved surface and any medium size SUV with decent tires shouldn't have any problems. Now mud or wet gravel is another story. I would stay away from that kind of boat ramp, but a gravel road would probably be fine to a point if it got really wet.

OK Jason. That's a start. But what AWD drive setting do I use? Snow with wheel lock engaged? In low gear?

I have not played with the settings enough to know.
