• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have some questions about the remote start through the app.
1. Does the car continue to run when the doors are opened or does it turn off? Is that adjustable?
2. How long does it run before it will automatically shut itself off and is that time adjustable?
3. What prevents the car from being driven after remote start with a push to start ignition? Our jeep can be remote started but the key has to be inserted in order for the car to be put in drive or even the windows rolled down.
4. If you remote start with someone in the car, can they roll down the windows?
Thanks in advance for the feedback. Only 1 month into my wait for our Telluride and can't wait!

It continues to run and once inside and it senses the key fob, allows you to drive away.
Is that adjustable?
Not sure what you mean, but I don't believe you can have it shut the car off when you open the door.

10 min and no, not adjustable - but you can start it a second time (and maybe a third...??)

In order to start the car, you must first lock the doors. It must sense the key fob as you approach to be able to unlock the doors and to allow driving
4. If you remote start with someone in the car, can they roll down the windows?
Not one I've thought of - but doubtful if the fob is not sensed.

Congrats - be surprised if you don't love it

I got a question I hope somebody can help me with. If I go to myuvo website, it shows both my vehicles and I can choose between them to get to their different features. On the App though, it only shows the Stinger and doesn't show the telluride at all. There is a change vehicle button on the app but it doesn't show the Telluride listed. Am I missing something?..

Are you using the correct app? You need the Kia access app to start the Telluride.

That was it, thanks, didn't realize there were two seperate UVO apps.

On related topic...

I found that if you start the car normally and then walk away with the fob, someone else could get in the car and drive away without the key fob. Since you cannot lock the door with the fob when the engine is ON, it makes driving away easier. Moral of the story? Don't keep your engine on if you are not in the car!

I used to have a Lexus and if I shifted it into gear without the fob, the engine would die. The KIT does not do this....

Are you sure? I thought for sure I could lock it with the Fob when it was running. Maybe I am mistaken... will have to try that.

This is a big oversight by Kia if true. You need to be able to lock the doors from outside if the car is running and there is no way it should drive without the fob inside.

Just tested...

Started vehicle with fob in vehicle, per normal...

Got out of vehicle, closed the door - a high pitched alarm sound went off; tried to lock the vehicle with fob, not allowed to.

Set fob down out of range, got in vehicle closed the door and was allowed to drive it - albeit with that high pitched sound again and a warning that stays on the screen saying 'fob not in car'.

Verified fob was out of range by turning vehicle off and trying to start - got the message fob not in range (or something like that).

As another test, started vehicle as normal, closed the door, got the alarm; then used the app to lock the doors - that worked. However, not able to unlock with the fob; only way to unlock was again using the app. That doesn't sound right to me either...

FWIW

A couple of minor edits to clarify and correct grammar

Well, it's not an oversight only by KIA. Many other vehicles behave the same way. I guess it some sort of "safety" feature or government requirement.

Once you turn off the ignition, you shouldn't be able to restart without the key fob but looks like there is a short timer on certain vehicles that let's you restart without a key FOB (2017 Ford Mustang GT)

so i use the app to start my telluride and for the pass 3 days i can't get the app to start my car. does anyone know why?

Were you using the app in a location where your cell phone and Telluride both had cell reception? You could also try logging into the KIA owners portal too if the app is having issues connecting, from your phone's browser.

In regards to locking the car while it is running. This was also a limitation for my previous Audi with smart key access. A manual workaround without using the app is to use the physical key in the fob. First you need to pop off the plastic housing on the door handle from the bottom. Just insert the tip of the key to loosen the clip and then pull the plastic cover to the right. To unlock when you come back to the car, just repeat the same process, or keep the plastic cover in your pocket until you return.

It's not the easiest or a classy way to lock your car, but it works. :sneaky:

Just curious but I can remote start my Kia from the uvo app but there's not an option on the actual fob. Is this normal? Or is there a secret button I'm missing?

Lol.I wish there was a secret button on the fob

Does anyone know what if any features remain after the first year is up?

U can lock it with the app while it is running bit not with the for. However I don't suggest it because I locked it with the app the other day while it was running and . Then it would not unlock
