• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My Telluride is just over a year old. I did not renew the UVO subscription as I am driving much less during COVID and rarely used what I thought were the features. However, I have lost the ability to depress the talk button and get directions (it now tells me to pick a category and it will show me locations in that category). I really liked being able to say "directions to 123 Main St" or "directions to ABC store". Also, I used to be able to have it send a text the same way. Wasn't paying attention if I lost these when the UVO subscription ended or if it happened separately. Anyone know? Also, if these are UVO features, what level is needed? These were my favorite features! TIA

You have to disable UVO in voice settings. Follow the direction laid out in this thread.

According to their website, UVO voice assist (for searching POI’s using the internet) requires the most expensive package, Ultimate.

It is a shame it can’t use basic voice recognition to search offline addresses or POI’s using the preloaded maps though. Unless somebody has been successful at this without a UVO subscription.

So far I have only heard most people losing the address input function (using the touchscreen) after UVO expired. Following Lith_SXPN’s suggestion or updating the NAV software will usually restore this function (specifically for typing addresses).
Also, I used to be able to have it send a text the same way.
According to info on the same webpage, if you tap on the UVO Voice Assist on the bottom of the page it displays the message “Note: Bluetooth features, like call or text, do not depend on UVO Voice Assist and do not require a UVO subscription.”

So technically you still should be able to text using the voice recognition button on the steering wheel. You can also try calling the UVO customer call center number and try to figure out how to restore this particular function. (844) 886-9411

Disabling the UVO in the voice settings did the trick!

Are you able to use the voice assistant button on your steering wheel to text and look up street addresses now?

I forgot to check texting but yes, the voice assistant button now allows me to say "directions to xxx" and have her answer me correctly. Will try texting tomorrow.

Disabling UVO alone didn't work for me. It always failed to do a voice search. It would try to do a "UVO" search but it would fail since I didn’t have UVO. After the initial search failed it gave me an obscure soft button that allowed me to conduct an address search using the built-in map.

What fixed it for me was the latest update to the map. There should be a thread about the latest update in this forum.

Now voice searching for an address works a lot better since it uses the internal database directly.

Thanks for confirming. How about voice recognition for sending texts with bluetooth?

Too bad the latest UVO update removes home screen widgets though.

My voice activated navigation works fine now using the steering wheel button. Be sure your system has UVO turned off in the voice settings, not just the UVO app. Unfortunately, the voice text function tells me I need a UVO subscription to do.

So you are saying that address search by voice works now after you disabled UVO from the voice setting and without upgrading to the new map update? Strange, that it didn't work for me without the latest map update. I'm pretty sure I was on the original release (from April '19) or 2nd, prior to the latest update. Maybe that's the difference.

And changed the GUI a bit. I like the old radio interface. The new one is weird.

Not terribly tech savvy so bear with me! Bought my SXP December 30, 2019 and have done no updates. My free UVO subscription is now expired and I have not renewed. Once I turned off UVO in the voice settings, as Lith__SXPN suggested in the second post, I was able to depress the steering wheel voice button and request directions such as "Directions to Home Depot or directions to 123 Main St" and have them pull up on the map/nav screen. Prior to my UVO subscription expiring I could depress the steering wheel voice button and say "text John Doe" then speak my text. I did NOT regain that feature by turning off UVO in the voice settings. If I try that now, it says "UVO subscription needed for this feature" or something along those lines. Hope that makes sense.

I may be wrong here but it seems like texting should still work based on the attached image. I’m interested because I don‘t plan to renew when the trial expires at the end of the year.

Already said that in post #3.

So far nobody has been able to confirm UVO voice commands to text works after the subscription expires.

It could just be a very vague statement from Kia meaning you are still able to make calls and use voice dictation over bluetooth to type (not using the voice recognition button on the steering wheel). In case customers were worried they wouldn’t be able to do these basic functions without Voice Assist. Not necessarily use voice recognition to initiate a call or text message.
