If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I had my name placed on a waiting list to have an SXP order placed in Sept when Kia is supposedly going to start accepting orders again. I am #5 on the list at my dealership. Got me to thinking that probably every dealership in the US now has a waiting list to place orders on the SXP. How will Kia handle a mass order for the SXP model in Sept. I was told it would be a first come, first serve and there will be no limit as to how many orders a dealer can place once its opened up. Was also told by salesperson it is primarily the napa leather that is causing the backlog and that Kia will be producing SXP models and have them ready to go when the leather becomes available. Just curious as to what others are hearing from their dealerships.

Yep probably all correct info, although we have questions on weather its really a Napa leather supply issue or they are changing suppliers for the seats themselves, there seems to have been quality issues in the seat coverings and how they attach to the seat frame. This may have halted production and now they are playing catch up mode. So far I have not had seat issues but mine was just delivered a few days ago so we will see if they fixed it or are doing that now.

Many have reported it’s the Napa leather and the black rims. This “list to order sxp” sounds like something just that dealer is doing. Once we hear that orders open up, you can go ahead and order from any dealership. I don’t even understand how this list would work. Are they going to contact 5 people and wait to hear back from each person in the order of the list? They would be shooting themselves in the foot while dealers around the country are placing orders non-stop. Also, dealers would need to order their own for their dealership allocation. You better believe they will order theirs first before taking any custom orders.

I have already given the dealership my permission to place the order for the SXP as soon as the ordering system is opened up. They will not be calling me for my permission, as I already worked up the specs on what I want them to order. I don't know what other dealers are doing, but they are not placing orders for SXP with Napa leather. I am not obligated to actually buy the car they will be ordering for me. The dealer knows they could easily find another buyer for it

That makes sense. The manufacturer will create what they want, and if yours happens to get allocated to that dealership, you might get lucky. Being #5 doesn't mean you will get yours 5th is all I'm saying. You could very well get it first depending on what the manufacturer sends and if it matches your specs. But if the list goes to 20, you could also be the 20th to get yours. It all depends on your spec and if the manufacturer picks that up and sends it to your specific dealer. Was getting on this list free? You might as well get on as many lists as you can and take the first one that comes in.

No one can possibly know this information. They are just guessing when they say it might open up in September. For all anybody knows, it won't open up until 2021. A dealer can order all they want, but each dealer gets an allocation depending on their sales. I think most people's worries at this point about orders are if they will be charged over MSRP when their orders come in. This has been reported countless times already, so make sure you get everything in writing and signed by the dealership. There's no point in waiting for an order when you can shop around right now and pay the same price.
