What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

The dealers get extra kickback if they sign you up at the higher interest rate.

Hi There,
I put 3K down and signed on some papers for the upcoming SX with Prestige Package. The dealer said it will arrive around next week. Here is the California and I had to pay for 3K mark up. In order to receive 1K rebate, I chose Kia Financing to purchase it. I have a question. My credit score is over 800 and my APR is about 4%. But I found that It will be 2.9% from the Kia website. What APR are uguys having?

See this post - just substitute $1000 for the $1500. They lowered the rebate in September. Basically, look at low apr program, and then add 100bp for DC program.

I really like the Telluride but I also liked the Hyundai Palisade too. The same company actually builds both the Kia & the Hyundai but the Kia dealerships are not budging on the price at all so I will wait. I may test drive the Palisade again and wait for better incentives. I will qualify for the $$ military discount and the $1,000 off too but the MSRP is $47,000 on the SX Kia Telluride and I will be trading in my 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe. I want a new SUV but not with a $600 - $700 a month payment!!

Quote... 'can confirm CA is crazy with markups'

Couldn't pay me to live there and pay those markups!

I, for one, do not understand the obsession with AWD with its $2000 price tag. What a marketing job the auto industry has done on this! At 70, I can remember when we drove RWD in snow in Ohio and life continued on. I've been driving a Toyota FWD for 15 years (before buying a FWD Telluride EX day before yesterday), and in Ohio, I've had no issues. My wife drove a 2009 RWD BMW 3 series from 6 years...also with no issues. Unless I lived in Colorado or someplace further north where it REALLY snowed, I don't want it and don't want to have to pay for it.

"I put in 2 orders with 2 dealerships"

Folks, this is the reason why some dealers appear shady and won't give you any sort of commitment over the phone... they don't know if your deal with them is real or is just one of many that you had placed with different dealers. If you play games with people then don't get upset if people play games with you.

Enjoy your FWD EX. 🧔
I don't need a morality lesson, please! First, the dealership can sell any Telluride that comes in or else they would have asked for a deposit, so they weren't too worried. The first dealer didn't get my order correct and said they couldn't change it. That is when I found another dealer who seemed more professional and got my order correct. I would have bought the first one that came in, yes... but neither have arrived and the first one said that they get NO feedback from KIA and usually don't know what is happening until the car just arrives one day on the truck. The other dealer gives a different story. If dealers can mark that car up several thousand, then I have no qualms whatsoever. After 3 months and 2 weeks, neither dealer had given me anything reliable about the status!

Purchased an SX AWD. MSRP - $1,000 rebate, 1.75% APR for 48 months. Credit score 780. I’m in Illinois.

Now I see that you can get $4100 if you lease it for 24 months? I feel like I should have taken that and then refinanced but the dealer never talked to me about lease options and I didn’t look them up.

Check the money factor for the 24 month lease. I think it may be pretty high. I haven't checked in a while though.

If you could prepay the lease without penalty without having to pay the sum of the monthly payments, then it could possibly have been better. The KMF money factor is very high, and remember that a lease would include another $1050 in fees - $650 acquisition and $400 disposition on purchase. Needless to say, you got a good deal with the low interest rate.

Thank you making me feel a lot better about it.

I considered it too - but it some states / contracts the entire rent charge must be paid even if paid early. On a KMF lease, that's like $5000 - so with fees, etc. - even the lease cash doesn't make a lot of sense. Purchase was better and more flexible. If you have the cash, put it in a high yield CD or savings account - maybe earn more than 1.75% to offset interest cost.

Doing exactly this I have a money market account that gives me 2.5% so just put the cash there and will have the payment come out every month. Sure it’s only a 0.75 gain but it’s secure and better than nothing.

I bought in November with an 800+ credit score and got a 1.75% rate. They are marking up your rate for a kickback, most likely. If you pay it off before 3 months they don’t get the kickback, so I have heard. You can probably refinance for a lot lower if you aren’t planning on paying it off early...if you do refinance, do it soon so you can stick it to the dealer who jacked you with such a high rate.

don’t forget, you have to pay tax on the MMA interest income, so it might be a wash, depending on your state tax rate and federal marginal tax bracket. Which is still fine, but may be worth just paying it off so you can get it out of your hair. Thats what I concluded, but I am only getting 2.1%. What MMA are you using?

Hey I will take 2.5% MMA. Who is it through?

Hey I would like 2.5% MMA. I'm getting 1.7% from American Express. Who is paying 2.5%?
Thanks-Rick

Hi Guys,
My dealership said they could modify the interest rate on vehicle delivery day (12/27)
In the meantime, I was checking the interest rate on Kia.com and I could get 0.9% APR from Kia Finance in 48 months.
What do you think about this APR?

See this post from August. Substitute $1000 for $1500, as they lowered the rebate in September. Yes, the interest rate can be modified at delivery - they usually quote a higher interest rate first. You can choose the program - just expect them to present the best option for them - not you. So yes, you have to come informed.

Hi Everyone, I am with a dealer group here in RockwallTx, If you want to hear the incentives we got on the Tellurides, send me an email at a.lima@southwestkia.com. Thank you guys and happy holidays.

The Market Average for Telluride Mark up is around 3500 over sticker.

Sounds like we got ripped off. We paid $3k over MSRP for our Pearl White EX Premium AWD. Total Price came out to $46,656.
That's where I was at the first dealer that I started negotiating with, which led me to thinking that if I could avoid all of those "BS" charges, I could get into an SX for basically the same price. But the good news is that you're driving a Telly!
