If you haven't wiped your phone in a while, it will be well worth it. You will probably get better performance. I was lazy to root my phone, but I wipe it at least 2x a year. So just wiped it with out a backup. Here's a link for your Pixel 2. If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. Mine is a Verizon phone and everything I'm reading says you can't root the Verizon pixel 2 so I guess I'm out of luck on that.
I have an unlocked version for carriers. But I thought all Pixel phones had the boot loader unlockable. If rooting your phone is not your thing, try this out.

You get album art through Spotify over BT? I used to in my old car but now I'm not. Looked through settings and thought maybe I needed to enable something but didn't find anything.

Glad I read this thread. I had kind of been an Android Auto naysayer (or thinker) but now I'm grasping the usefulness. Time to play around with Waze and get all of my nice Spotify Premium features!
