If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What other SUVs are you cross shopping vs. Telluride ?

We looked at Subaru Ascent, Chevy Tahoe, and Yukon Denali.

Ford Exploder (hated it)
GMC Acadia (liked it, good value but pretty small interior.... can't be much larger than the Terrain)
VW Atlas SEL R Line (Loved it.... especially the space... it's massive)
Ordered a Telluride SX (non prestige), mainly because you get more safety/comfort features than the Atlas SEL R Line for the same money.

I like the fully loaded Atlas SEL Premium with the blacked out wheel option. The way the Atlas drives/handles is awesome. The Atlas sells for about $5k below MSRP which is less than the SX with Prestige. The crash test results for the Atlas are great; the pano roof is better; and the digital cluster is better. I'm concerned about the reliability of the Atlas but my local VW dealer is great. The Kia dealers are horrible!

I like the styling of the Telluride better and the self steering seems cool but I can live without it.

I ordered the Telluride SX Prestige but am still thinking about the VW Atlas.

My wife really liked the look of the metallic black SEL R Line, but we were disappointed that we couldn't get the black wheels with the R Line. However, we considered using the R Line wheels as winter wheels, but having them powdercoated black... then ordering a set of the black Mejorada wheels for summer. With this accessory addition, our cost was in line with the SX (non-prestige). That, on top of the fact that we couldn't get as favorable of a bumper to bumper 10/150K extended warranty with VW made our decision for us.

I agree..... the Atlas drives very well... it is quiet and built like a tank. Hated the fake exhaust trim on the rear bumper. Why did VW think that was a good idea? Love the room in the 3rd row, but I'll never ride back there anyways. Love the VW panoramic sunroof over the Kia 1st row sunroof and 2nd/3rd row moonroof. Hate that you have to jump to SEL Premium to get real leather in the Atlas.

We sat down and did a side-by-side comparison of features.... and for the price.... VW couldn't beat the Telly.

Looking at the VW Atlas and CX-9. We love the Telluride but the prices on the SX are ridiculous due to demand. The VW dealer right now is listed the SEL Premium 4 Motion (MSRP of 50k) for 42k on the website which means we can probably get it lower than that. All Atlas models are basically listed at 7-9k under MSRP at the moment. Would you all just go for the Atlas at that price point considering the SX will not go much under MSRP if at all?

Just wait it out if you really like telluride, KIA is not god given brand and people will chill out, not everyone out there is about throwing money away!

That's a great price on the Atlas. Where are you located? Which VW dealer? I would pick the fully loaded Atlas at $42k over the SX Prestige at full MSRP.

Which extended warranty gives you that bumper to bumper for 10/150K? Is this from Kia?

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. Just ordered the vehicle last Saturday... no VIN yet.... no deposit required.... so I haven't seen paperwork on the extended warranty. All I've been told so far is that it extends the bumper to bumper to 10/150K.

I am located in the Northern VA area. I was looking a the Lindsay VW Dealer in Dulles.

Looked at/drove:

Pilot
Atlas
Ascent

I think if the Ascent was a bit less expensive I would have gotten it. I liked it a lot, and the wife LOVED it. But I did not want to spend the money to get the Touring trim, which is the one I wanted. With The Telluride (and no, it is NOT a TELLY) she liked it and I LOVED it, AND I lowered my lease payment by about $60/mo.

I have owned several Subarus and trust their reliability and that's why I would have gone with it, in addition to it being a really nice SUV. I am just hoping the Kia proves to be equally as reliable.

The Pilot was great, but I never even got around to actually pricing it out. I think it would have been higher, but not sure.

The Atlas was OK, but I didn't LOVE it. AND the lease deal was not as attractive as the Telluride.

I feel like this was my, and everyone else I talked to about it's reaction to the Atlas. It is 'okay'. It is a good car, good features, but absolutely nothing stands out. I actually almost got one before I drive the telluride and preferred almost everything about. If the interior of the atlas was so 'blah', I probably would have bought it.
