In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Wireless Apple Play/Android Auto

Telluride 2021 do have the wireless CarPlay, but only in the lower trim. I’m guessing it is intentional in order to sell their built-in navigation system in the higher trims.

Just wanted to report that I bought CarlinkIt 2.0 for our new Telluride a few days ago and it's been overall great. Occasionally seems to lag on the connecting screen a bit long (like 10-15+ seconds), but overall a very worthy addition. Impressed with the performance once connected; the inputs are snappy and there's very little lag. Used velcro to stick the CarlinkIt module to the underside of the forward storage cubby lid, and it's out of sight/out of mind.

For the first couple days we had the car, my wife never bothered to plug her phone in because she didn't want to dig it out of her purse every time we got in the car. But wireless CarPlay is a game changer...so, so convenient. If you're on the fence, do it.

Agree that the wireless Carlink add-on is a great addition for Apple CarPlay. For those who share your Telly ride with your significant other be aware of these caveats:
  1. Wireless Carlink selects the last user when two iPhones are present at the same time.
  2. You are able to switch users when you start your vehicle by selecting your Apple device from the Telly touchscreen; however, you will have to select your device two or three times during the initialization process because it may try to go back to the last user.
  3. The startup GUI interface is generated from the Carlink accessory so it's not the most intuitive.
  4. Once your wireless device is connected and you hit the road you will not be able to switch CarPlay users on the fly, you are stuck with the CarPlay user selected during startup unless you do this: unplug and reinsert the wireless Carlink adapter to restart the initialization process while on the road. That way (suggest the passenger do this) you can select the other user.

Agreed on 1-3, we’ve found this all to be true. Re: #3, their UI is awful.

Regarding #4, I’m pretty sure we managed to switch by having the non-connected user go to Settings->Bluetooth on the iPhone and connecting to the KIA* Bluetooth device. I may be misremembering because we were doing a bunch of different things but I think that worked.

If you’re trying to change the device connected to the adapter on the fly, the quickest way to do it would be to toggle WiFi on and off on the device currently connected to the adapter. That will kill its connection and prompt the adapter to search for a device to connect again. Then, you could just choose the other phone you wanted.

here is a AAwireless review from someone with a Telluride. I have ordered one for june shipping.

Thanks for this! Looks great. I have one on order, but my order number is like 27,000 and it seems like they've been struggling to get production up to peak. I probably have a couple more months to go.

Amazon prime. You can get it in 1-2 days.

Didn’t realize we had shifted this discussion to strictly Android. My bad.
It’s not strictly Android in this thread, but the post you were replying to was someone who was thanking someone else for showing info about AA wireless. Just wanted to make it clear that they couldn’t get that from Amazon. Not that easy for those on Android, unfortunately.

So... Got my AAWireless device a few weeks ago and have been using it regularly.

At a high level, it works with my Telluride SX. However, there are some problems.

The #1 problem is that the Telluride keeps the USB port powered for a while after the engine is shut off, and even after the doors are locked. I think it's about 10 minutes, but haven't measured. This means that the AAWireless Wi-Fi network (hotspot) stays on for that period of time. When I park my car in the garage and go into my home, my phone stays connected to the AAWireless Wi-Fi instead of connecting to my home network, and therefore it uses the mobile network for data, all until the car timeouts the USB power. It also keeps Android Auto running on the phone, which means some phone functionality is disabled (Google maps, in particular).
What's more, the AAWireless app seems to force-reconnect to the AAWireless Wi-Fi network even if I try to select the home network in teh phone's Wi-Fi settings.
The same of course can happen in other places where you want to use the Wi-Fi network and your car is nearby.
This is a nuisance but not a deal breaker for me.
The AAWireless device does have a "Start / Stop" feature, which can start and stop Android Auto on your phone based on connection to the car's Bluetooth. This would be great if it worked properly, but in my case it does not: When I enable it, wireless Android Audio occasionally does not start, or in some cases starts and then stops/disconnects. The feature seems to be highly dependent on the car's Bluetooth, and so I would love to hear if other Telluride owners have managed to get this working properly. I've also opened a ticket with AAWirelesss support.

Another problem is occasional audio glitches (seems like lost packets), as well as an occasional disconnect that requires rebooting the device.

If you're willing to live with the above, this is not a bad product for an Indiegogo project.

As far as I’m aware the 10.25” unit was pretty much brand new for the 2020 model year and isn’t due for an update yet. The 8” unit had been out for a bit and is being updated for 2021 for many models (albeit not the Telluride). Unfortunately at this time that means you get the weirdness of a nice feature not being available on the premium unit because we’re at a transition point.

The good news is this problem can be pretty much solved with a ~$130 adapter like CarPlay2Air.
But does that disable the wireless charging pad in the SX model? So if you need to charge you need to plug in anyways? Before I buy I’d like to be sure.

Wireless charging and wireless Apple carplay are two separate technologies that have nothing to do with each other.

Wireless Carplay is just transmitting data from your phone to a receiver connected to the USB data port in the car. Regardless if plugged into another charger or wireless charger it will work the same.

The wireless charging pad in the car will work, so long as you don’t have the lightning cable plugged into your phone already (ie. while using wireless Carplay). Be aware though that if you are heavily using your phone with navigation, music, etc., it is a good chance the phone battery will still drain faster than wireless charging can chargr. That is just a limitation of wireless charging efficiency though in general.

Correct on the last comment, plus note that wireless charging will be automatically turned off by the phone if it gets too hot (from excessive use as mentioned above). This has happened to me on long drives.

Ditto on SKB's comment about the phone getting too hot. I use wireless charging and wireless Carplay (adapter) on short, less than 2-hour trips. On longer trips, I use the convenient Telluride seat-back charger port since I like the cord running from the back of the center console rather than the front.

So we just picked up a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited model for my wife. I saw that the new Tucson advertised wireless CarPlay and was excited to get it. Turns out the top of the line model with the 10.25" screen doesn't have wireless CarPlay, only the lower models with the 8" screens have wireless CarPlay. What kind of stupidity is that??? I wonder if the internal guts for the 10" screen are the same as our Tellie's and that's why there is no wireless option?

Just like every single 10.25”+ Hyundai/Kia infotainment system with navigation. None of them have wireless CarPlay/AA. The only systems that have wireless CarPlay/AA are the 8” units on certain 2021 or newer Hyundai/Kia models. This isn’t new or surprising at this point.

I almost wish they had just held off on adding wireless CarPlay support on the 8” units until they had some bigger units that supported it as well. Because this has led to so much confusion from people who don’t read the spec sheets and make assumptions, dealers who don’t know anything and tell people the wrong thing, etc… and ultimately, you wind up with disgruntled owners. The Palisade forums/FB pages are littered with misinformed people who just assumed they were getting wireless CarPlay when they bought their top-end Calligraphy because they read or heard low-end models had it. Nope, sorry.

Seriously, though, very few other missing “must have” features can be acceptably remedied with the $150 or less adapter. And take solace in the fact that the factory wireless CarPlay setup has had some teething problems… people have reported incessant disconnecting, sometimes even after a software update to fix the issue.

I'm not unhappy by any means.. Just surprised that moving into a 2022 Tucson which is a brand new design, that they didn't bother to add it. Unfortunately the detailed specs weren't out yet when the vehicle was ordered, only basic specs. They just recently added the car to their website with all information. I added Carlinkit 2 to my Telly and have just ordered another one for her car. No biggie, carlinkit works great.

Did nobody notice the the AAWireless Android Auto adaptor demo is in a Telly, no less??

It appears to be well ahead of any other Android Auto wireless adaptor I've looked at. Just ordered one.
