However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone on here build your own Telluride and the dealership did a sale order for you......Then when "my car" was delivered it was the wrong exterior and interior color??? Also didn't come with the tow package like I requested.

Nope. Did you buy the "wrong" one?

Nope.....I built it and sent the specs to my dealer

Sold yours to someone who is willing to pay $6k more... then suddendly the random one in their lot is... the one you ordered.

I'm pretty sure what JW meant was did you still go through with buying the vehicle if it wasn't what you had requested be ordered?

Many other members of this forum have shared their experiences about their dealer ordering a vehicle for them. Many have reported that they later found out through various ways that their dealer never ordered anything and the dealership was just hoping they would be allocated a similar vehicle that they could then sell to the person who thought they had "ordered" it. It sounds like in your case, they simply are trying to sell you a vehicle that they were either allocated and hasn't been sold yet or someone else had ordered it but then backed out of the deal for whatever reason.

What date did you send the specs to your dealer to have him order it? The turnaround time as to how long it took for your dealer to say "your" vehicle had arrived will probably be a good indication of whether or not a vehicle was actually ordered. If it was a very short turnaround time, they likely are just trying to sell you a vehicle someone else just backed out on. A very long turnaround time could indicate they sold "your" vehicle to someone else who was willing to pay more and they now are trying to blame KIA for the wrong car being delivered. Keep in mind that KIA does not actually make a specific Telluride based on an order being placed, they simply match up completed vehicles with dealer's confirmed orders and ship them there. So unless your dealer somehow screwed up the order when it was placed (unlikely), something else is going on here with your dealer not being completely honest with you (very likely).

Wow. They probably never ordered it but filled it with what came in off the truck. This is starting to happen to more and more people. Got as close as they could and hope you bite.

I made sure I had EVERYTHING in print before I put my $1500.00 down!

We were led to believe KIA will be accepting our order and emailing a confirmation. We have been waiting a month and no word. I trust our local dealer is being honest, but we thought our Telluride was being 'made to order'. Now I am concerned we will be in the same boat.

back in june-july when i was shopping around i was told by multiple dealers around the tri-state area that they werent doing custom orders because the demand was so high and manurfacturing was so far behind, and that custom orders werent gonna happen til around Christmas

They just didn't want to order them, because unsold inventory could be sold at markup to highest bidder. They didn't want to negotiate price at order... so they just said orders can't be placed. I had same experience in my city. I found a dealer willing to take my order at the price I wanted to pay, and then when it did show up... they kind of had remorse - salesperson said he sold the same vehicle a week ago at 6k markup. I said great for you - and me that I'm not paying that! If they could have sold my order to someone else willing to pay more (some dealers did do that) they most certainly would have!

Most dealerships are scam artists. They will knowingly screw you for extra profits and lie thru their teeth. Its a business, I get it. But they have 0 remorse doing it. I came across 2 of those dealerships where I had to walk away when searching for my Telly. I finally found a dealer out of state that was more then happy to work with me on my terms. Didn't pay over MSRP, in fact payed less then sticker. And this was back in June.

I also had ordered a AWD ,Moss green with Gray interior with a tow package. I was told 4 to 8 weeks, but the Dealer now says more like 12 weeks. He said we have a delivery date of 11/18 or sooner. We do have a stock # and VIN # also. I am hoping were OK.

I believe a down payment. But I called Kia Headquarters yesterday an was told there was no such number. They advised me to call the Dealer so I did and talked to my salesman. He told me in fact that was a phony number but had assured me that the car was ordered the way I requested and will keep me up to date when he hears the status on it. And also when I talked to Kia , the women said that they are now taking orders now but not at the beginning so who knows. Its a hot car now and everyone wants one. So I'll wait on....

I’m sure yours is on the way. Good luck and I hope you get your car quickly.

Howdy,
My understanding on maybe the wrong vehicle ordered....

I sat next to my salesperson when they punched it all in. The KIA ordering system is not straight forward. The code words are not understood to be normal. Regular people would expect say a code BLK would equal BLACK. and GRY would equal Gray. That is not the case. Say code 22Y equals BLACK and code 26W equals GRAY.
The whole order coding is way more difficult than it should. So, your salesperson really needs to be on their game with understanding the KIA special ordering process.
It also seems that whatever Telluride shows up at a dealership, it is sold anyway.
The KIA ordering doesn't seem to capture a sold owner's name. That would be a dealership naming sold vehicle identifier.

Good luck with your order. Waiting here too for a custom order Telluride. :)

This is a little wrong. What KIA is calling the "Que" which is internal... You see request num, dealer number, dealer name and customer name. It's a very long spreadsheet. Customer is tied to the order.
