• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello,

I just found that the aluminum door sill plates are missing on the passenger side front and back. As you can see below, I have an aluminum sill plate on the driver side front and back, but have black sill on the passenger side on the front and back.

This made me wonder what else could have gone wrong and it seems like cargo sill scuff should include an aluminum plate not the black plate? My reference is Youtube review videos and it seems like SX models have aluminum plate.

The problem is I figured this out a year after getting the car and the dealer said he can't do anything because too much time has passed... I mean sure I should've noticed the door sill plates earlier but how would I know about the trunk plate. Very frustrating...

That's BS you don't sit in the passenger side and didn't know until you were shown it. If it is still under warranty, I would call Kia and complain to them that this happened and the dealership should have caught it when they did their PDI (pre-delivery inspection)

Looks like they can't crank those out of the factory fast enough. The quality control leader with the clip board must of been on break.

I contacted the customer service and they guided me to take it to the local dealership to get it checked out. I'm not sure what sort of warranty this falls under but they said it will be fixed if it is under certain warranty like 12k/1year. If it is not covered by the warranty, they said KIA will pay or at least do partial payment to get it right. I have visit scheduled on 5/23 so I will update after getting it checked out.

You made me walk out to my '21 SX and check. I never get in on the passenger side. Mine is all good. KIA "should" correct that for you. Good luck.

Just to give you guys an update on this matter. KIA district manager approved to pay for the parts but said I will have to pay for the labor fee at the local dealership as they are privately owned...

This makes no sense to me, so still figuring out how I could have KIA to pay for the labor. At least, customer service rep has been very reasonable and supportive.

I haven't removed any of these from KIA vehicles, but typically they are only stuck on with 3M tape. I would get the replacements and do it myself.

If your husband is handy and has some basic tools he should be able to replace the parts in less than an hour taking his time. Not hard at all to replace. Now the trunk back piece I believe you might have to remove some screws but not hard at all. Dealer shouldn’t charge you more than an hour just comes down to doing it yourself or having them do it. I can understand where the comments about you shouldn’t have to pay. But both here failed here to check specially dealer and then yourself. But I would say push for them to make it right and see if maybe they give you a discount on their hourly labor they normally charge. Best of luck keep us updated. 🙏
