Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Luther KIA in Inver Grove Heights, MN coming through big time. Order placed at end of Feb and was given 4/26 delivery date a couple weeks ago. Just got a notified yesterday that our delivery date has been bumped up to 4/15. Dark Moss, EX w/black leather with Premium & Nightfall. Order went into Failcat on 3/9. Can't wait to pick her up.

Salisbury Kia in MD was great to work with. They also honor the MSRP with no BS. They just received my SXP NF in Everlasting Silver, but I’m no longer driving to MD because my exact car is available closer to home at MSRP. It made sense to cancel the order in MD and stick with a dealer in my home state.

Wow that was fast foe uou

wow that was fast to have your VIN created. Looks like we may have ordered similar vehicles. Hopefully mine gets picked up as quick.

I do know I have to wait until at least the middle of the month for any possibility of KFOS grabbing it.
Good luck. They do take in a lot of Tellys which bodes well for you.

How was the experience with Belzer's? DId you pay above or below MSRP for the order? Just trying to get a feel for the landscape of MN since I'm also in the metro.
So we pick it up on Saturday, but they are clear you pay at MSRP. So far my experience has been great. They have kept me informed and up to date on my order! I’ve been dealing with Justin Smallfield, and he has been great. I can message you his number if you’d like. Also their timeframe from order to delivery was only 3 months for an SX Prestige! Highly recommend them.

I posted my bad dealer experience, now for the GOOD! A lot of people have written nice things about i25 Kia in Longmont, CO, and I'm here to add to them. We had gotten the runaround on buying a Telluride for MSRP closer to home, so after it fell through I decided I really liked that weird Wolf Gray SXP and wanted one (although I still would gladly take Everlasting Silver or Gravity Gray). I searched the forum and other places for the good dealers, and made my very nice husband who indulges me call around. We got a few bites, but the first big bite we got was from i25 Kia. I am in Florida, so buying from Colorado still sounds insane in my mind, but it's what we did. i25 Kia said they had a Wolf Gray SXP already coming in that I believe they were going to keep as a program car or someone backed out of getting it, but anyway, i25 would sell to me for MSRP, and it was slated to come in by April 8 or so. (This was end of February.) This was a real Telluride at MSRP two-ish months away, so we jumped. We reserved it in late February. It arrived at the dealership on March 22, ahead of schedule, and once we got paperwork done it was picked up by the transporter this past Tuesday, March 30. I wasn't crazy about the transport process, because you get so little information, but I'll be darned if the transporter didn't call me last night, Thursday, April 1, to say he was about to drop off my car. Two days from Colorado to me in Florida, which impressed the heck out of me.

The salesperson we dealt with was Brandon Paluszak, and he is awesome (if you're reading, you're awesome, Brandon, bless you, thank you, may all the good things in life happen for you!) So the deal: they charge a refundable $500 fee to reserve, they do charge a dealer fee (like $700 I think?), and I had to pay shipping ($1500). I still made out ahead of the bad dealership I dealt with and its stupid markup. And i25 was great to work with--super, super responsive, transparent, just great. I realize there were potentially other dealerships I could've dealt with closer to me in Florida, but I'm happy with what we did.

Thanks to everyone who has recommended i25 in Colorado. I spoke with Mike there today and he's ordering my car! Said it will be a 4-5 month wait, which is a bummer, but way better than spending the $6,500 over MSRP that I'm finding in my area. I live in Southern CA and will fly to Colorado to pick up my car and road-trip it home. They will even pick me up at the airport. So nice. Super excited! Now I just have to be patient.

I ordered as well from I-25.. I’m in Huntington Beach and I couldn’t find any dealers who weren’t out to screw people over.

Lol yea. Can’t wait to get it. It’s not even my car, I have been doing all the research for my wife.

I’m assuming you’re down in San Diego?

Awesome plan! :) How did you find out all the details/dates you included in your signature (KFOS date, VIN creation date, etc.)? Did your salesperson at I25 update you with that info? Also, I noticed you made your deposit less than two months before your anticipated ETA. Is this ETA earlier than you expected? I was told it would be 3-4 months, but I'm hoping it might come earlier. I'm ready for that same Colorado-So Cal road trip!

I think they say 3-4 months, generally.
High volume dealer 50+ in Feb., #11 in deposit line, timing of deposit before monthly allotment (15th-17th), KFOS picked up, salesperson provided ETA, VIN found in fail 🐱 by @flyckfly, @jdrummer are in same KFOS group, confirmed with @StephenCantrelle on order/VIN. I do think the switch over to 2022 is going to come into play as July approaches. Think they are pushing to get as many 2021s out.

Thanks so much for all the info!

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this, but is there a repository anywhere of current "dealer premium"s? I'm in MA and they are all over the place...

Spoke to Claude at Queensbury (NY) Kia and he was very helpful, ordered a custom Telluride @ MSRP without any problems.

Anyone found a dealer in FL that would allow a order under MSRP, or MRSP and no dealer fee nonsense?

Every dealer will have a dealer doc fee. You want to avoid additional dealer markup ups (i.e. etched windows, other add-ons once car is at dealership).

Is the doc fee different from a the dealer fee?

Is the doc fee different from a the dealer fee?
That's what you need to look for and ask about at dealership. All dealers have a doc fee to cover cost of paperwork. Most states have a limit the dealer can charge. You should know that walking in to buy your car. Look it up for your state. Any fees above that doc fee that are vague in description or are called market adjustments is just your dealer jacking up the price. Build your car on the Kia website. It will include déstination charges, which you have to pay (not negotiable). Then google your state's new car tax rate and maximum dealer doc fee rate. That is all you should pay (or below.). Anything more is a dealer markup, no matter what they call it..
