What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

For all you new buyers of Kia Telluride. my 2 cents - DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I have the 2021 SX AWD. Paid 4k extra to get the car. I loved the way the car drove. compared to even the Merc GLB or Pilot. But after 8k miles and 10 months of ownership, I have transformed from a happy customer to a guy with a grin on his face.

The materials in cars are in certain places are sloppy.
1. The door handle cover(where the physical key goes), popped out and wouldn't stay there now.
2. My car broke down 4 weeks back when went to the beach and is still with the service center. They are replacing the transmission (warranty). I am sure none of you want it on any new car, especially when you pay a fat price.
3. The nearest service center was 2 hours away. Roadside assistance was good, but that's about it. If your car breaks down in a remote place, be prepared to wait for help
4. The service center (Kia-Greenbrier) has called me twice in the last 4 weeks. None in the last 2 weeks.
5. Kia does not have parts. If your car does to dealer for repair it will take ages.
6. The KIA customer support is a bunch of nice folks, but they too can't do much after you raise the complaint.
Maybe I am just unlucky with the car. But transmission issue in the car is a complaint that you will see in the other places in the forum.

Hello and thanks for having me. I hope to join the Kia family next month. I have my name against one arriving 8/29 (SXP NFE Wolf Grey), but ADM is $9K. I live in Frederick MD and called a dozen dealerships around me and most are charging $8-$12k ADM over MSRP. I did find one near Baltimore who said I could order the one I wanted and they charge $2K ADM. The challenge is taking the chance on delivery...3-8 months. I can deal with 3 months, but 8 would be tough.
I live in MD as well so hopefully this helps. Bob Bell Kia near Baltimore is charging MSRP on orders, I spoke with Dominic and placed an order there last month and they quoted 3-4 months for delivery. They are a small volume dealer so you would need to talk to them but were very nice to work with and very upfront. I also spoke to Parsons of Winchester and they charge MSRP as well, but quoted 3-6 months for delivery. As mentioned above, there are a few dealers in PA also charging MSRP but I haven't spoken to them.

Long story short, your transmission went. Show me a brand this doesn't happen to.

Ordered our SX Nightfall from Fort Bend Kia near Houston this week for MSRP, no need to buy any add ons.
I am from Houston as well. I didn’t know dealerships were offering msrp pricing. How was your experience with them? Did you do a custom order? How long is their wait time?

So after searching for a few days, I finally found the exact build I wanted (Wolf Gray SX, Black int, with Nightfall, Prestige, and towing) about 4 hours away. Estimated delivery is 3 weeks. They agreed to sell at MSRP (about $51k) with no add-ons, however they are stipulating that I must use their financing (not KMF) or pay cash. Should this raise any red flags? Is it normal practice? I am prepared to pay cash if necessary but I was originally planning on financing through my credit union.

Sounds fishy, but just for kicks, I’d ask them for the interest rate(s) and doc fees. Anything more than 1.9/60 or, say $500 in doc fees and I would think twice.

When I looked at Fort Bend Kia a few weeks ago they told me 8 months for a custom order. I went with Van Griffith Kia instead as they told me 3-5 months. MSRP plus $399 for a window tint which is a must in Texas plus $399 for the actual custom order. Both fees I thought were very fair considering what other dealers are charging. So I am paying MSRP plus $798. Took 15 minutes to place my order and I have the printout from Kdealer saying my order was input into the system.

What’s the rate and for what term? How does it compare to what KMF offers for the same term?

Unless there are any prepayment penalties you can also refinance through your preferred lender after a few months.

Well... I have not gotten the terms in writing yet, but he did verbally tell me the rate would be around 3.9% and that I could refinance without penalties after 6 months. I will definitely be reading the fine print before I sign anything. I know that rate is not great, but since I'm getting the exact car I want for MSRP, without having to wait months for a custom build, I think I am okay with the compromise (as long as the terms are actually what he says they are). The dealer has great reviews on Google, and the guy seems genuine. If anything fishy happens I will be prepared to just pay cash for the vehicle and leave it at that.

Does anyone in Washington state have any luck finding a Telluride at MSRP by any chance? All of the dealers I contacted so far are asking for a ridiculous markup, $5k to even $10k. Kia of Puyallup was the least expensive of the bunch, at $2k markup, but they said a new order will take 15 months.

When people on here say they "paid MSRP," is the MSRP they are referring to the one you would see on kia.com? And "MSRP" would be the price exclusive of anything like a destination fee, taxes, or any other fees?

In other words, someone could say they paid MSRP, but fail to mention they paid thousands in other fees, so a simple statement of "paid MSRP" isn't adequate to spot a good deal, right?

For example a 2022 Telluride EX on kia.com lists MSRP as $37,790, but then adds on a destination fee of $1,225 to get an actual estimate price. Is the $37,790 + $1,225 considered "paying MSRP"?

Sorry if I am being unclear.

MSRP in this case usually does assume adding destination fee and a typical amount of dealer fees. It really just means someone did not pay dealer markup on top of it. But even then, that kind of deal is only happening for people that order and wait. No one is getting one off of a lot today without paying at least $2k markup.

MSRP is the sticker price of the vehicle. Sticker includes destination and sticker should match what is on kia.com. This does not include tax and tags or dealer document fee which can be different per state. In my case it is $500, normally not much more than that.

That is my understanding

For those on the East Coast, I purchased mine from Hart Kia in Salem VA at MSRP. Placed a down payment on June 2 and my '22 EX-P AWD Telly arrived on July 15th.

MSRP includes destination. It is the final number you’ll see after finishing a “build” on Kia’s website.

Taxes and all government fees (reg, title, tire tax, etc) are additional. They do not go to the dealer.

However any other fees do go to the dealer. Sometimes it’s quite obvious like “doc” or “prep” but sometimes it’s disguised to sound more like an official or government fee. This category varies by state: sometimes they are capped by state law; sometimes they are not.

We’re in OR, where markups here are $8-$15k over MSRP, before any fees/taxes. I contacted most of the WA dealers, and Puyallup was the lowest with >$2k over MSRP, and just this Monday said the order ETA was 12mos. We didn’t want to wait that long, and everywhere we tried in NorCal and NV had all wanted $3-15k above as well. We wound up ordering from Brandon at i25 Kia in CO. MSRP + $695 D&H with a 4-5mo ETA.

That’s why I ordered with i25 three weeks ago. I’m in NorCal and thank you forum for all the help!

That's not true. You can get one at MSRP if you shop around.
