• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Long story short - car wash attendant floored my brand new Telluride into a wall. Very sad day.

I am looking for any input/suggestions on how to handle the claim process. Since a business caused the damage, I'm not sure if I have more options than I would in a typical car accident. So far the owner of the car wash is cooperating and his insurance guy is telling me I don't need to file a claim with my insurance company (I already have, but he's saying I can cancel it). I'm still early in the process since this happened over the weekend and I wasn't able to talk to anyone until today.

Also, does anyone know what parts availability looks like right now? At minimum I will need a hood, front bumper, grill, headlight, quarter panel, and fog light. Really hoping I don't have to wait months for parts.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I'm afraid you will likely be in a rental for months. Remember, you can insist that it be done with OEM parts. If you don't, they may not do so.

Only other advice is to choose your own preferred repair shop. You don't have to use the one they recommend (even if they make it sound like it's not an option).

If you are going to use there insurance the, You do not need to file a claim with yours. If you go through your insurance then you will have to pay your deductible and then get that back from the car wash’s insurance. the insurance company for the car wash let you pick the repair facility?

You also have a claim for diminished value from having been in an accident. Parts are likely to be a continuing issue. Frankly I personally would order a new car expecting a long wait, sell the damaged car in the meantime, and get used to driving lesser rental cars. I did the latter for 2 months and daily cursed at the piece of sxxh. Rental cars available. Fortunately we had a good personal relationship with the dealer and he had a new car for us in two months. I also paid over MSRP but that is part of your claim from the car wash.

I don't think is any aftermarket parts for the Telluride (Body Parts)

This is fairly accurate as of a month ago. Remember this vehicle has been out since Spring 2019, parts are available. Most will need to be painted to color match.
We just repaired a door panel no issues. Parts were obtained by the body shop through a local KIA dealer. Dealer caused most of the delays through logistical errors, but replacement parts are readily available I was told and did experience. Longest part took a week to obtain. I'm sure yours will be in the shop a little longer considering more damage but it shouldn't be too bad.
Make sure if you go thru their insurance alone, that they provide you with a rental vehicle with no cost to you out of pocket and for as long as it takes. GL

Appreciate all the responses! Lots of good info here. I'll definitely go with the company's insurance.

Got a quote from my dealership's body shop (which has great reviews) for only $6k. Much less than I was expecting.

I'll be sure to update in regards to how long the parts take and how the claim process goes.

If you can get back that lower grill and fog lamps from the body shop I will be interested if reasonable price Don't let the body shop keep them and make more money
