• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Carlinkit 3.0 Disconnecting or Rebooting Issue

I wonder if the cutout issues people have had are due to a bad USB cable/connection/port. Some cables just don't fit as snug as others and even a slight wiggle will cause them to disconnect. Maybe a bit of electrical tape is in order to eliminate that possibility
I’ve tried carlinkit 3.0 and vrriis (different brand) with their own cables and have the same issue with both. I will say, it does act like a slight blip in connection so maybe I’ll try a different cord before returning the second one.

seemed to be a solid connection...didn't bother trying another wire

I just want to comment that someone else in the forum had intermittent issues with a phone connection (can't remember if it was Android or iOS), and the dealer solved it by replacing a wiring harness. The original harness was apparently being pinched somewhere. Just thought I'd mention it as another possible cause of issues like this.

i assume this would affect wired or wireless carplay if it's an issue with the vehicle wiring harness

I believe the pinched harness was making the USB connection unreliable, which would impact both wired and wireless Carplay as well as Android Auto.

Unfortunately these things can be hard to diagnose because there are a number of hardware and software problems that can result in the USB connection being unreliable. Most people say "try a new cable" or "clean out your phone's port". But the problem can also be with the harness inside the car, or in the software in the phone or infotainment system.

like Biggie said...more electronics more problems

That’s good to know. I haven’t used the hardwire option yet….

I have the same issue. I had mine for months with not much issues then I updated the firmware. I will probably try going back to old firmware to see if I still have issues because I have more disconnects on the new firmware.

I tried the hardwired CarPlay today and had the same issue. Looks like I need to call Kia.

Because others appear to be having similar issues, I thought I’d report back with what seems to have worked for me (fingers crossed). After a few trips to the dealer, they tried putting something (it was a small bottle of fluid) in the USB port and in my phone that is supposed to make the connection more stable. I had two disconnects that day after it was applied but have had zero in the last ~3 weeks! So, my guess is that it took time for whatever they used to dry and help the connection.

I’m going to give them a call soon and ask what it is in case I want to buy some in the future. I can update my post when I have that info.

4th try is the charm so far...after 2 carlinkit adapters and 1 ottocast adapter (all of which had disconnection/reboot issues) i think we have a winner...
